WASHINGTON – A report from the new front lines in Afghanistan says the decision not to withdraw U.S. forces caught the military completely by surprise and even less prepared to conduct strategic operations and even defense because most combat arms and the intelligence apparatus was dismembered.
The news comes from a newly published article in Joseph Farah's G2 Bulletin intelligence report.
Now it's a game of catch up, reported a source on the ground.
The source told G2 U.S. military positions are only operating at 80 percent efficiency, while there is little information forthcoming from the regions turned over to Afghan forces.

With the Afghan government desperately trying to make a peace deal with the Taliban, it's next to impossible because of the presence of U.S. forces. The Taliban sees victory within its grasp, said the source.
The truces between Afghan National Security Forces and the Taliban are being implemented "so they don't get their heads chopped off at the checkpoints and police stations," the source described in the report.
The report said Special Operations Forces are the only U.S. military contingent still conducting missions.
