Escaped Mexican drug lord Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman, who just walked out of his prison via a hole in the bathroom that led to a mile-long tunnel, sent out a ominous Twitter to presidential hopeful Donald Trump that went something like this: Shut up, or I’ll kill you.
In his own words, in Spanish on the Twitter account managed by his son, Ivan, Guzman is believed to have written: “If you keep pissing me off I’m going to make you eat your words you [F-bomb] blonde [homophobic slur].”
An aide to Trump said the “FBI is fully aware of the situation and is actively investigating this threat against Trump,” the Daily Mail reported.
The FBI, meanwhile, said it would neither confirm nor deny an investigation into the threat against Trump.
Guzman is the leader of the powerful Sinaloa Cartel, which controls heroin and marijuana operations in Mexico as well as in the United States and Europe.
Trump has previously slammed Guzman as representing “everything that is wrong with Mexico,” and vowed to “kick his” butt, various media reported. Trump’s also been highly critical of Mexico, saying the country sends its rapists and criminals to the United States and fueling a campaign controversy among the media, Mexicans and several businesses that severed ties with him.
Even though the Twitter account is managed by his son, Guzman is believed to have posted the messages to Trump himself. At one point in the Twitter messaging, a post read: “There’s no jail for such a big midget,” a reference to his own five foot, six inch height.
