Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell issued a sharp rebuke to President Obama over comments he made that likened the GOP to Iranian hardliners, saying the comparison was both "bizarre and preposterous" and a retraction was in order.
Obama, during a speech at American University aimed at selling his Iran nuke deal to Congress and the American people, said the Iranian hardliners – the ones who chant "death to America" – were cheering the pact's holdup, as WND reported. And he then said similarly so were the Republicans, who were united in principle with these radicals.
"In fact, it's those hardliners who are most comfortable with the status quo," Obama said. "They're making common cause with the Republican caucus."

McConnell, in a statement, said that claim was "bizarre and preposterous" and said both "supporters and defenders" of the nuclear deal ought to oppose Obama's "offensive rhetoric," Fox News reported.
He went on: "Members of both parties have serious and heartfelt concerns about the Iran deal. These Democrats and Republicans deserved serious answers today, not some outrageous attempt to equate their search for answers with supporting chants of 'death to America.'"
Obama's deal has faced massive backlash from members of both parties in recent days. As WND reported, even Democrats – including Reps. Steve Israel and Nita Lowey, the latter of whom is the ranking Democrat on the House Appropriations Committee – have scuttled from the plan and vowed to vote against it.
