Black Lives Matter activists are furious at Sarah Palin's call for President Obama to call off "the dogs," in reference to thug-like protesters who seek out police to target, injure and kill.
"Since our president won't say it," she said, during an anti-Iran nuclear deal protest on Capitol Hill, the Washington Post reported, "since he still hasn't called off the dogs, we'll say it: Police officers and first-responders all across this great land, we got your back! We salute you!"
The remark was quickly interpreted by Black Lives Matter activists and others as a pejorative term, despite the common usage of the phrase, "call off the dogs."

One activist, Stereo Williams, tweeted: "Black Lives Matter can't be 'dogs,' Palin. White America loves and protects dogs," the Washington Post reported.
And another, Shaun King, tweeted: "The dehumanization of our movement is fully underway. Now we are animals," the Hill found.
Black Lives Matter's main mantra is that white police around the nation are targeting blacks and unfairly arresting, shooting and killing them. But as one black pundit, scholar and columnist wrote: That's just not true.
Larry Elder, in a column posted by WND, said: "Despite the lack of evidence that there is an increase in cops shooting blacks, let alone shooting blacks unlawfully, a few recent killings of blacks by cops have spawned the so-called Black LIves Matter movement. ... The No. 1 preventable cause of death of young black males is homicide – usually at the hands of other blacks."
Former Gov. Martin O’Malley, D-Md., and Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., both had Democrat Presidential campaign events interrupted by Black Lives Matter members this summer.
Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump has accused the Democrat candidates of "weakness" for yielding to the protests.
“I think it’s disgraceful, the way they’re being catered to by the Democrats, and it’s going to end up kicking them you know where,” Trump said on Tuesday evening.
“I don’t think it’s going to end up good,” he added of Black Lives Matter activists. “I think they’re trouble. I think they’re looking for trouble.”
