The investigation into the State Department's response to the Sept. 11, 2012, terror attack in Benghazi, Libya, has been deemed a "gross misuse" of taxpayer dollars by Congressional Democrats. Outrage over federal spending on obese lesbians and "Origami condom" studies is mysteriously absent.
Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's 11-hour hearing into the Benghazi terror attack and its lead-up investigation was called a "gross misuse" of $4,809,266 by California Rep. Linda Sanchez. Ranking member of the Benghazi committee, Elijah Cummings of Maryland, accused Republicans of "squandering millions of taxpayer dollars."
Nevada Sen. Harry Reid added Wednesday via Twitter, "The RNC should reimburse taxpayers for the expenses of the Benghazi Committee, which is clearly a Republican political organization."
The Washington Free Beacon crunched federal spending on Friday and found the National Institutes of Health spent $3,531,925 to determine why lesbians are obese at a higher rate than gay men. NIH also funneled $2,466,482 into a project on the development on "Origami condoms."
Democratic members on the Benghazi committee have also blasted the duration of the investigation (532 days as of Thursday), but the Free Beacon noted NIH's lesbian obesity study extended 1,460 days.
Clinton has been accused of not being vigilant on the security situation in Benghazi prior to the night U.S. Ambassador J. Christopher Stevens, foreign service officer Sean Smith, and CIA contractors Tyrone S. Woods and Glen Doherty were slain.
"I've thought more about what happened than all of you put together. I've lost more sleep than all of you put together. I've been racking my brain about what could have been done, should have been done," Clinton told the Republican-led panel on Thursday.
Chairman of the Benghazi committee Rep. Trey Gowdy insisted the investigation is nonpartisan.
"This investigation is about four people who were killed representing our country on foreign soil," the South Carolina congressman said Thursday, the New York Times reported.
Gowdy said delays in questioning Clinton were due to her decision to use a private email server as secretary of state – and the subsequent administrative and legal problems – instead of partisan politics.
