He's widely recognized as "America's Prophet" and the author of the bestselling book "The Harbinger," which held court on the New York Times bestseller list for a remarkable 100 weeks.
But it wasn't long ago that Jonathan Cahn was little known.
In a blockbuster new documentary, "The Harbinger Man," Cahn testifies it was God who actively intervened not just in his life, but in the lives of others, to spread his call to repentance.
Cahn recalled how after writing "The Harbinger," which later was made into "The Isaiah 9:10 Judgment" movie, he found himself too busy to undertake the kind of marketing and branding necessary to effectively promote the book and its message.
In an airport in Charlotte, North Carolina, on his way to another speaking engagement, Cahn bowed his head and asked God for help.

"Lord, 'The Harbinger' is your message, not mine," he prayed. "You did it. You have to get it out to America. You have to get it out to the nation. You know how to do it. Don't do it by plans of man. Do it by your hand."
At the same time, Hubie Synn, a devout Christian and an accountant, was glumly drinking his coffee in the airport, listening to music and regretting he wasn't able to get any sleep. He was only there because his flight had been delayed.
Suddenly, he recalled, "The Lord starts talking to me."
He was being directed to speak to the Jewish-looking man sitting next to him, even though as a Christian, Synn felt he wouldn't know what to say. However, the impulse was so strong that he felt compelled to begin a conversation despite how awkward and uncomfortable it might be.
The man Synn thought was Jewish turned out to be none other than Jonathan Cahn. And what nonbelievers might call a chance encounter turned out to be the impetus for "The Harbinger" to receive the backing necessary for it to become a publishing phenomenon.
Cahn recalls Synn told him: "You have a book; this book is of God. God is going to send this book forth to America. There is going to be change. Your life is going to change."
The rest is history.
"The Harbinger" remained at the top of the New York Times bestseller list for more than 100 weeks, selling more than 1.2 million copies.
It also inspired the smash hit documentary, "The Isaiah 9:10 Judgment: Is There An Ancient Mystery That Foretells America’s Future?"
The film went on to become the No. 1 movie at Amazon.com in the category of "Faith and Spirituality" and the second most popular documentary of any kind in the week after its release.
"The Isaiah 9:10 Judgment," produced by WND Films, was also the bestselling faith movie of both 2012 and 2013.
”The Harbinger Man: The Jonathan Cahn story" also promises to be a sensation, having cracked the top 20 in the "Faith and Spirituality" at Amazon even before its official release.
Cahn believes God's hand extended even beyond Cahn's encounter with Synn. Years before, Synn had been moved to give a word of prophecy to receiver David Tyree of the New York Giants while working for him in a professional capacity.
Tyree is a dedicated Christian, and Synn predicted Tyree would accomplish something that would allow him to spread God's Word. Tyree went on to make perhaps the the most spectacular catch in NFL history in Super Bowl XLII. As a result, Tyree was propelled to a new level of fame and gave his own testimony in his book, "More Than Just the Catch."
Cahn observed: “Because David Tyree wrote the book and mentioned this guy's name, it put him in touch with the president of Charisma publishers, who then I get a contact from. Stephen Strang, the publisher, says: 'We heard about what happened what happened at the airport. We heard about 'The Harbinger.' We have no idea what it is, but we're interested.' And that's how 'The Harbinger' went forth to America, just by the hand of God."
Synn, author of the book "Tales of a Wandering Prophet," had told Cahn his situation was like that of a man standing before a staircase. However, Synn prophesied, Cahn would not walk up the stairs but leap up. And sure enough, Cahn soon found himself on national television shows and was known around the world.
Again, Cahn maintains it wasn't anything he did, but simply "the Lord getting the word out."
Reflecting on the reception of "The Harbinger" and "The Isaiah 9:10 Judgment," Cahn marvels, "It has evoked so much response from leaders, Christian leaders I've known my whole life, hailing it, or inviting me on [their shows] or getting in touch."
Some of those who responded were members of Congress and presidential candidates.
Former congresswoman and presidential candidate Michele Bachmann read "The Harbinger" at the urging of a friend and recalled she "immediately" knew what she was reading was true.
Bachmann, author of "Core of Conviction: My Story," said: "The words struck a chord of recognition in my soul, and that's what Scripture does."
Reflecting on the "tenor of the times," Bachmann argued Cahn's message was simple in its essence.
"He was explaining to the country that we have two choices. Either pride, where we rise up in our own pride and defy a holy God and see ourselves cast down as a nation and go further into decline, or we can recognize we have fallen away from a holy God who loves us. And what we need to do then as a nation is confess our sins before Him, repent which means turn 180 degrees from our sin, and follow the path of obedience toward Him."
Cahn is pleased to note his work has engendered messages from around the world informing him of prayers for America's repentance, revivals and people giving their lives to Christ.
He explains in "The Harbinger Man" that he's seen his life change in ways he could have never imagined.
However, in the end, he has a simple explanation for the success of his message – it's God's message.
"I believe that's simply a function of the fact that the Lord wanted it out," Cahn said. "It's totally been His hand."
