Rep. Peter King, one of New York's feistiest, told a "Fox News Sunday" audience that what America needed was more surveillance of mosques, no matter what the civil libertarians say.
"[They] can cry all they want," he said.
His logic?
"The fact is, that's where the threat is coming from," he said, speaking of the security risks facing America, Breitbart reported. "And 98-to-99 percent of Muslims in this country are good people. I'm actually swearing in the first elected Muslim in Long Island; she is a good a friend of mine. So this is nothing against Muslims, but the fact is, that is where the threat is coming from."
King said "political correctness" was putting America in danger.
"[It] makes no sense," King went on. "For instance, in Boston, with the bombing, you have the Tsarnaev brother who was put out of a mosque because of his radical thoughts and statements made in that mosque, but nobody in the mosque told the police. Nobody ever told the FBI."
King said the bombing attack at the Boston Marathon could have been prevented, had mosque members alerted police. And, he continued, such information is often available at mosques, if only law enforcement officials weren't hampered by political correctness.
"We've had a number of Muslims from Long Island where I live gone overseas fighting with al-Qaida and you find out they've been in mosques and spoken radically but nobody in those mosques ever told the police," King said, Breitbart reported. "In almost all of the cases, you find that."
