UNITED NATIONS – President Obama revealed the meaning and results of his promised "change" and "fundamental transformation" in his final State of the Union address.
The message was not lost on anyone.
The Washington Post – the house organ of the Corporatist Establishment – acknowledged Obama has not sown hope among Americans, but "fear of change," "pessimism" and a sense of "growing danger to the country."
Obama used his speech to once again hector, lecture and castigate Americans, leading the liberal New York Times to declare, "Obama Confronts Americans' Fears in State of the Union Speech." The Times men failed to connect the dots and see that Obama is the source of those fears.
In the clearest terms yet, Obama provided clues to where he and his fellow travelers plan to lead us.
We live in a "new economy," he told us. Companies can locate anywhere in the world and have less loyalty to America, he intoned.
Did Mr. Hope and Change say he hoped to change that? No – he accepts this as an immutable, irreversible fact of "the global economy."
In Obama's "new economy," corporatist cronies can lobby Washington for special favors, use our taxpayer-funded courts to enforce their contracts and invoke property rights established under our Constitution, but have no obligations to the Americans who have shed blood defending the country or institutions by which these corporate entities have grown rich.
This is not how the Red mandarins of Beijing view things: They tell our supine corporate elite, "If you want to sell it in China, you have to make it in China - and hire Chinese to make it."
Obama showed no such backbone or loyalty to the country, or to the citizens he is sworn to defend and who elected him to lead.
Instead of jobs that will support a family and widespread prosperity, Obama envisions a "new economy" of government-provided "benefits and protections" that dole out "a basic measure of security."
Not very long ago, "protections" like Social Security and Medicare were only for those too old to work. But in Obama's America, even working-age people need "benefits." Forget about the American dream of getting ahead – settle for "a basic measure of security."
While he is loathe to change the ground rules of the corporatist slavery known euphemistically as "the global economy," Obama is supremely confident he can change G-d-given human nature.
Obama, a good leftist, believes in the mutability of Man. Rather than unique individuals endowed by the Eternal with G-d-given gifts, he sees us as but clay that can be twisted into any shape deemed appropriate to be "job-ready on day one." This is the foundational belief beneath Common Core.
In this magical universe, every American will be "retrained and retooled" to become an architect or iPad designer. "It's in our DNA," he proclaims, his version of master race theory.
Obama then asked, "How do we re-ignite th[e] spirit of innovation?"
Earlier generations of Americans thanked the Almighty for the wonders they wrought with their hands. The Erie Canal, an unparalleled engineering feat of the early 18th century, evoked in a contemporary "feelings of gratitude to that Being who has bestowed on his creatures so much power and wisdom."
King David said, "Thine is the greatness the power and the glory, Riches and honour come of Thee, and Thou reignest over all; and in Thine hand is power and might; and in Thine hand it is to make great, and to give strength unto all. Now therefore, our G-d, we thank Thee, and praise Thy glorious name."
Obama gives glory and credit, not to the Eternal, but to government and the Collective.
"I believe in change," Obama told us in his peroration, "because I believe in you, the American people."
