Four Washington state students are charged with gang-raping two 15-year-old girls during an overnight field trip.
A three-day leadership conference in Seattle in October 2015 turned into a nightmare for parents of two girls from Mount Rainier High School in Des Moines, Washington.
Donnie Ray Moore Jr. and Keegan Josiah Tarabochia, both age 18, allegedly raped the girls with two other juvenile friends Oct. 26, 2015.
Court documents filed Feb. 12 say the girls were invited to a hotel room and given vodka and whiskey by the high-school seniors until they were "totally out of it." One of the victims said "the guys cycled through me," and revealed she was a virgin, crying out in pain during the sexual activity.
The girls informed their parents upon returning home Oct. 27, 2015.
Seattle police immediately launched an investigation and used rape kits to confirm DNA samples belonged to the four suspects.
"We want parents to know that our student safety is of the utmost importance to us. So when we learned of these allegations, we did take action to ensure that the safety of all of our students was taken care of at Mount Rainier," Catherine Carbone Rogers of Highline School District told KOMO News Feb. 12.
Moore and Tarabochia have been charged as adults with third-degree rape and supplying alcohol to minors. Two other suspects, both 17-year-olds, will be charged with similar crimes as juveniles. The suspects' arraignments are scheduled for Feb. 24.

Mount Rainier High School's trip to the Sheraton Seattle Hotel last Oct. 25-27 included 24 students and adult chaperones who allegedly performed "room checks." King 5 News reported Feb. 12 that it was still "unclear how this situation slipped through the cracks."
The NBC affiliate said all four suspects have refused to speak to police.
