[Regarding "'Young Messiah' movie: Jesus' childhood imagined"] I get Christians' hunger for something, anything from Hollywood that has any religious connotations whatsoever. We believers are so desperate for art that reflects our faith that we almost jump in knee-jerk fashion on anything that portrays our Lord.
I say we slow down and take a deep breath. I say we start to exercise a bit of biblical discernment. The glowing endorsement of "Young Messiah" and the beautiful back story of author Ann Rice's spiritual journey made it yet again very easy to endorse this film.
But we must consider the fact that she draws from non-biblical, gnostic sources that are anything but consistent with the Gospels. And if we fall for her trap, we open the door to a re-invention of Christ that we will live to regret. I say a resounding NO to the fictional, dangerous and unscriptural "Young Messiah."
