Ivana Trump, Republican presidential primary front-runner Donald Trump's first wife, blasted Sen. Bernie Sanders as a "communist," saying she has first-hand experience at identifying them.
"Sanders is a communist," she said to the New York Post's Page Six. "I was born in a communist country, so I know when I see them or hear them."
Sanders has identified as a socialist and as a democratic-socialist on previous occasions. As senator, he's caucused with Democrats and currently seeks the Democratic Party's nod for the White House.
Trump was born in the southeastern Moravian city of Zlin, part of the Czech Republic. Communists took over the business sector of Zlin in 1945, and it was renamed Gottwald, after the Czechoslovakia President Klement Gottwald, in 1949. In 1990, the city returned to its name of Zlin.

She also had words of criticism to offer for Sen. Marco Rubio, who dropped his presidential bid after losing to Donald Trump in Florida, and for Sen. Ted Cruz and Hillary Clinton.
"All of my friends [voted] for [Trump]. I think Donald is going to win," she said, the New York Post reported. "Rubio – he's too young and inexperienced and just a silly boy. Cruz, I don't get it. ... Hillary just lies a lot. Donald is very optimistic and I think he will be a great president and not because I'm his ex-wife. He will run this country as a business and we need someone who will be able to make a decision. If he doesn't win, he'll go build another skyscraper. He has nothing to lose."
She also praised Trump's present wife, Melania, saying "she can speak and she understands" and will be a great first lady.
"She's more quiet than others are, but she's going to be good," the former Mrs. Trump said.
