For conservatives, watching the rise in popularity of Bernie Sanders as a presidential contender was something like watching a train wreck. How could young people be so enamored of an avowed, unashamed socialist? The answer is simple: They are the products of our appalling public schools.

On Thursday Drudge ran a story, headlined as “For people under 30, socialism isn’t a scary word.” Of course it’s not a scary word. These people have never been taught true history. They’ve been told their whole lives that socialism is a great idea, if only it could be implemented correctly (like in China, the Soviet Union, Nazi Germany, Cambodia …). Who cares if tens of millions of people have been exterminated to achieve this “utopian” goal? THIS time we’ll do it RIGHT.

Quoting the article: “Millennials, the generation born between 1982 and 2004, are more often identifying with Sanders’ ideas, including his promises of free college education and health care.”

Can these people not grasp simple economics? Education and health care aren’t free. Someone has to pay for it, usually at the point of a gun. But as long as it’s not them, who cares? Yeah, that’s right, socialism is great. And THIS time we’ll do it RIGHT.

Liberals spend a lot of time bitterly complaining about “big” stuff. They hate “big pharma.” They hate “big business.” Yet they embrace “big education” with wholehearted fervor. Why? Oh yeah, it’s because “big ed” is teaching socialism, just what libs want. Even better, “big ed” is brainwashing the innocent offspring of non-liberals, thus dragging more kids into the morass of a proven failed government strategy.

Case in point: Kindergarten children at a public school in New York City recently took part in a class project in which the children were made to create an American flag with the flags of other 22 other nations superimposed over the stripes. Below the flag read the words: “We pledge allegiance to an International Flag.”

Public schools can’t seem to teach kids about the Founding Fathers, how to read their own diplomas, or subtract two-digit numbers – but are obsessively interested in childrens’ genitalia, sexual feelings and “reproductive health.” These are government monopolies that viciously fight against competition despite the abundant evidence showing the superiority of private and home education, yet spend millions lobbying for yet more billions of dollars to save their “failing” schools.

So what’s the true purpose of education? Is it to teach children reading, writing and ‘rithmetic? Is it to teach them the unique freedoms that have made America great? Is to teach them to be literate, thoughtful adults capable of running businesses and raising families? Of course not. Don’t be silly.

Consider this quote by German philosopher Johann Gottlieb Fichte, the father of German nationalism:

Education should aim at destroying free will so that after pupils are thus schooled they will be incapable throughout the rest of their lives of thinking or acting otherwise than as their school masters would have wished. … The social psychologist of the future will have a number of classes of school children on whom they will try different methods of producing an unshakable conviction that snow is black. When the technique has been perfected, every government that has been in charge of education for more than one generation will be able to control its subjects securely without the need of armies or policemen.

Read that quote again. And then again. Read it out loud to your spouse. It is nothing short of horrifying – and true. Now ask yourself, is this what you want for your children? Folks, you’re not just raising your kids; you’re raising the future of America.

These bots who vote for Sanders (and Hillary) exemplify what Fichte envisions as the goal of education. These are people incapable of thinking or acting contrary to what they were taught in school. We are thiiiiiis close to the government controlling its subjects “securely without the need of armies or policemen.” Congratulations, you libs. You’ve accomplished miracles in just two or three generations.

As if this weren’t bad enough, it seems the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and the Department of Education is drafting a policy graciously allowing parents to help raise their own kids – but only in conjunction with various government social programs.

The document, called “Draft Policy Statement on Family Engagement From the Early Years to the Early Grades,” states: “It is the position of the departments that all early childhood programs and schools recognize families as equal partners in improving children’s development, learning and wellness across all settings, and over the course of their children’s developmental and educational experiences.”

Equal partners. Yes, you read that right: The government wants families to be equal partners in raising their children. Notice government is first, parents are second.

In the words of William A. Estrada, director of federal relations policy for the Home School Legal Defense Association, “This one sentence unmasks the federal government’s true philosophy behind decades of federal involvement in welfare, kindergarten through 12th grade education spending and policies, programs like Head Start, and now the push to create universal early education for young children from birth through age 5: The federal government believes that its role is equal with the role of parents.” [Emphasis added.]

The draft policy also explains how the federal government should “systematically” engage families in their own children’s development, and provides specific plans of action for states, including integrating “family-engagement indicators” into existing data systems.

“States should collect data about the extent to which early childhood programs and schools are engaging families, the strategies that they are using, and their effectiveness,” the report says. “States can use this data to better understand current practices and policies, strengthen those that are working, and modify those that are not.”

This includes “family surveys that assess family experiences alongside data on children’s development.” Do you think these surveys will include detailed and personal information about the family’s church attendance, firearms possession and general attitudes toward government? I’m guessing the answer is yes.

Gee, with a government policy this comprehensive, what could possibly go wrong? In short, folks, you have to be flippin’ NUTS to keep your kids in public schools. This goes beyond insane and descends into outright evil.

G.K. Chesterton said, “Education is simply the soul of a society as it passes from one generation to another.” With an education system that actively strives to suppress individual thought and liberty under a system of soulless socialism, what passes from this generation to the next will assuredly be more misery, chaos and despair.

But hey, at least it’s “free.”
