Heidi Cruz, wife of Sen. Ted Cruz, who’s currently holding second place in the Republican Party primary for president, broke her silence on the affair allegations that have been plaguing her husband’s campaign, calling them “garbage” and the work of front-runner Donald Trump.
“It’s garbage,” she said, during an interview with Megyn Kelly of the “Kelly File” on Fox News. “It’s just garbage. This is another example of Donald Trump engaging in the politics of personal destruction, using his henchmen to go out and try to destroy others when he is losing. And I think these silly barbs and made up stories did not come out earlier in the campaign because he felt he was doing OK.”
The allegations of Cruz’s affairs were first made public in the National Enquirer, with a story that included images of five faceless women. Various media outlets and social-media posters later filled in the faces to identify the women.
Cruz has since denied any affairs, while Trump has denied any involvement in the story.
But Cruz’s wife, on Fox News, said she didn’t believe Trump’s hands were clean on the story.
“I have no doubt these things are made up in certain places for a certain reason,” she said.
