Sen. Jeff Sessions, R-Ala., predicted Sunday "more of these attacks are coming" while discussing the nightclub massacre in Orlando that left 49 dead and dozens injured.
"More of these attacks are coming. It's a real part of the threat that we face, and if we can't address it openly and directly, and say directly that there is an extremist element within Islam, that's dangerous to the world and has to be confronted, we need to slow down and be careful about those we admit into the country." Sessions told Fox News Sunday.
Sessions, chairman of the Senate's Subcommittee on Immigration and the National Interest, said more than 570 people have either been convicted, charged or connected to terrorism since the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks on America.
Sessions added that “about two-thirds of those people that were charged were foreign born, almost all Islamic individuals.”
"Hillary Clinton wants to increase five fold the number of refugees from Syria and the Middle East, which can’t be vetted the experts have told us. Their own officials have said they aren’t able to do good vetting over what president Obama is admitting, so this is just out of touch with reality," Sessions told Breitbart News.
Sessions, who serves as an adviser to Republican presidential hopeful Donald Trump, said most Muslim citizens and visitors to the United States were “not violent" but that the federal government must be "more vigilant" about the screening process.
"There's just within the wonderful group of Islamic people are certain group of radicals and it's been there for a long time and it seems to be growing and we have to accept that fact," said Sessions.
Sessions also said Clinton should be disqualified from being commander in chief if she can't say the words "radical Islam."
“President Obama will not say the words [Islamic extremism]. Neither will Hillary Clinton, who would like to be the commander-in-chief of the United States military forces. Frankly, somebody who cannot understand the clarity of this threat and the need for honest talk about it — the need to protect America — is disqualified to be president. They just simply don’t get it, and that’s not acceptable anymore,” Jeff Sessions told Breitbart.
