Trump is in yet another kerfuffle with a Democrat. This time with Rep. John Lewis, D-Ga. In an interview with NBC's Chuck Todd, Lewis said it will be difficult to work with Trump. "It's going to be hard. It's going to be very difficult. I don't see this president-elect as a legitimate president."
Many would say, so what? We all know who Lewis is. He is, as the title unambiguously states, a Democrat hack and race hustler – like so many other old time civil rights leaders – most who parlayed their "struggles" into cushy government or activist jobs, where the only qualification one needs is to be black … oh, and liberal.
Trump could have let it go, afraid, like most Republicans, to hit back at such an icon of the civil rights movement – especially on the eve of MLK Day. But that's not his style. Instead Trump took his favorite venue, Twitter, and hit back at Lewis.
"John Lewis should spend more time on fixing and helping his district which is in horrible shape and falling apart (not to mention crime infested) rather than falsely complaining about the election results."
To this, many Democrats and other leftists lashed out at Trump, questioning his intelligence and saying that Lewis deserves better.
TRENDING: To DEI for
Why? Why does he deserve better? Because he fought, like so many others, for civil rights, almost exclusively against racist Democrats 50-some years ago?
So this grants him a pass for every stupid thing he has said or will say – not to mention every lie he's told? Let's review just a few of Lewis' despicable whoppers.
Recall back in 2010, when John Lewis was on his way to the Capitol to cast his vote for Obamacare. It is still horrible to even think of, much less recount, but I will try to muscle through.
In March, 2010, McClatchy News wrote: "Demonstrators outside the U.S. Capitol, angry over the proposed health care bill, shouted 'n--ger' Saturday at U.S. Rep. John Lewis, a Georgia congressman and civil rights icon who was nearly beaten to death during an Alabama march in the 1960s.
"Protesters also shouted obscenities at other members of the Congressional Black Caucus, spat on at least one black lawmaker and confronted an openly gay congressman with taunts. Capitol Police escorted the members of Congress into the Capitol after the confrontation. At least one demonstrator was reported arrested.
"'It surprised me that people are so mean and we can't engage in a civil dialogue and debate,' Lewis said. Rep. Emanuel Cleaver, D-Mo., said he was a few yards behind Lewis and distinctly heard 'n--ger.'"
Reading the entire McClatchy piece, one will notice no indication that this "allegedly" occurred. If Lewis and other "black leaders" said it happened, you can bet it happened, and there is no need to look any further into it. This is how it goes on the left – no critical evaluation of the validity of any claim by any Democrat.
The problem is, that there were cameras present, and it's clear that Lewis and the other race hustlers were lying. RedState wrote: "Let's be blunt; John Lewis is a liar. He claimed the N-word was 'shouted' over and over at him, and yet no camera among the many there has caught anything of the sort. In other words, there is no doubt about it; he was and is lying straight through his teeth. As so is McClatchy's William Douglas who filed the story, no doubt knowing full-well that it was false." Oh, and no one was arrested – you know, because it never happened.
At the 2012 Democratic National Convention, Lewis used his convention speech to argue that a GOP victory will send blacks back to the 1960s, when he and others were forcibly denied access to restaurants, public transportation and the ballot box.
"I've seen this before, I lived this before. We were met by an angry mob that beat us and left us lying in a pool of blood. Brothers and sisters, do you want to go back?" Lewis exclaimed – prompting a loud response of "No!"
A vote for Mitt Romney meant a return to segregation, separate water fountains, fire hoses, dogs, tear gas and billy clubs. Lewis knows this was a despicable lie, but doesn't care. The ends will always justified the means.
In February of last year, Lewis, a Hillary hack, questioned Bernie Sanders' involvement in the '60s civil rights movement. He said: "I never saw him. I never met him. I was chair of the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee for three years, from 1963 to 1966. I was involved with the sit-ins, the Freedom Rides, the March on Washington, the march from Selma to Montgomery and directed (the) voter education project for six years. But I met Hillary Clinton. I met President (Bill) Clinton."
Oh really. Lewis met Bill and Hill during the '60s? Funny – that's not what he claimed in a 2001 book entitled "Conversations: William Jefferson Clinton, from Hope to Harlem."
"The first time I heard of Bill Clinton was in the early '70s. I was living in Georgia, working for the Southern Poverty Law organization, when someone told me about this young, emerging leader in Arkansas who served as attorney general, then later became governor. After he [Bill] became involved with the Democratic Leadership Council, I would run into him from time to time. But it was one of his aides, Rodney Slater, who actually introduced us in 1991 and asked me if I would support his presidency."
Regardless of what we might think of Trump or how he reacts to criticism, why would anyone believe anything Lewis says? Because he's black? That's not good enough for me.
