As of this writing, Trump's inauguration has just taken place. He is now our president. But during the week leading up to his investiture, we saw the left absolutely melt down in hysterics. Riots, chaos and vandalism, apparently considered glamorous and acceptable pastimes, have wreaked havoc on the nation's capital:
- Washington braces for anti-Trump protests
- Anti-Trump hysteria builds ahead of inauguration
- The left's anarchists: Same old hoodlums
- 'Throat-punching,' 'blockades' to disrupt Trump inaugural
- Radical leftists target DC Metro Rail to block inauguration access
- Some Americans want martial law to stop Trump
- The funding behind the Inauguration Day disturbance reveals intriguing mystery
- Protesters to 'go hard' during Trump inaugural
- There's a 'Queer Dance Party' going on in front of Mike Pence's house
- At activist training camp, protesters prep to disrupt inauguration
These headlines, and the furious demonstrations and disruptive threats, underscore one very critical point: This is why Trump won.
These agitators helped Trump into office. In effect, they all campaigned for him. The media, Hillary, Black Lives Matter, the paid protesters who blocked highways … they all worked together, with beautiful coordination, to ensure a landslide victory for The Donald. With their help, he couldn't possibly lose.
For the past eight years, progressives surrounded themselves with such a thick layer of bubble wrap that it prevented them from seeing, much less understanding, the real-life, ground-floor concerns of the American people. This bubble wrap was so thick they literally didn't realize until the 11th hour on election night that they were in deep doo-doo. For example, take a look at a screenshot I took of the Huffington Post late in the afternoon of Nov. 8, 2016:
TRENDING: America's most dangerous demographic
During the past administration, conservatives were called every nasty epithet in the book simply for expressing their opinions. Hillary Clinton proudly upheld this tradition with a deplorable message that resounded loudly among Republicans; and that message was, "I don't give a [bleep] about any of you."
As one person put it, "Hillary called us Deplorables. Bill called us Clingers. Bernie called us rednecks. BLM calls us racists. Obama called us Dhimmis. Trump called us Americans!"
The past eight years showed us what happens when special-interest pandering supersedes constitutional God-given rights. The truth of the matter is people – even most so-called liberals – don't like being bullied. They don't like it when businesses such as pizza parlors and florists and bakeries and photographers are dragged through hell for no other reason than a differing opinion. They don't like it when everyone from their preschooler to their elderly grandma is called a racist just … well, because. They don't like it when their young daughters are forced to share a restroom with a hairy-legged man who "feels" like a woman that day. They don't like paying $50,000 a year to watch their college-age kids – who simply want to reach their intellectual potential – become forcibly indoctrinated into values antithetical to those of their parents.
The screams of "-ism!" helped Trump enormously. Most people don't care about skin color or gender or sexual preference. But they care very much about behavior. In general, people aren't inclined to vote for someone if they're being called hateful names. Quite simply, the Deplorables got pi--ed.
Take, for example, this breaking news: "Anti-Trump protesters calling themselves 'Black Bloc' shattered windows of cafes, stores, and vandalized cars on the streets of Washington, D.C., as the inauguration of Donald Trump is about to kick off."
Americans did not want another administration that would support anarchists like this. Don't you get it, folks? This is why Trump won.
People are tired of agitators. Tired of criminals. Tired of threats. Tired of demonstrations. Tired of rioters. Tired of anarchists. Tired of being called names. Tired of unfounded accusations. Tired of snowflakes. Tired of "occupiers." Tired of people not pulling their own weight. Tired of harassment lawsuits that ruin businesses. Tired of … well, the list could go on for a long time, but you get the point.
The message we got from Hillary was: "I don't give a bleep for half the country." The message we got from Trump was: "Let's make America great again." Which message do you think resonated louder? Let's face it, it took a Hillary to elect a Trump.
The people who stood for us in Washington for the past eight years – a legacy Hillary was eager to continue – represented a very tiny percentage of Americans. The rest of us were invited to perform unmentionable and impossible acts upon ourselves.
Again and again, over and over, the left profoundly misread the people. Holed up in their ivory towers and getting feedback solely from their own media echo chamber, they could not grasp what motivated the vast majority of ordinary hard-working citizens. For the past year, the leftist media has portrayed Donald Trump as a cross between a fool and a fiend. They dismissed his message without considering the impact his words had on Flyover Country. It's no wonder they became hysterical with grief when he won the election.
As recently as December, the Washington Times reported how the New York Times' executive editor, Dean Baquet, said his newspaper, as well as other "media powerhouses" across the country, doesn't understand religion or "what motivates devoutly religious Americans. … We don't get religion. We don't get the role of religion in people's lives."
"I now have two big jobs," said Baquet. "Big job one is to cover the most compelling and unusual president we have had in my lifetime. Big job two is to really understand and explain the forces in America that led to Americans wanting a change so much that they were willing to select such a different figure for the White House. Those are my two big jobs."
See? Completely and totally out of touch with America. And he wonders why Trump won?
Trump is not some sort of messianic savior. The religious right isn't naïve enough to think he's a pillar of religious devotion. But many people hope he will be a president who will not mock – or more importantly, legislate – against traditional religious values. He's off to a good start.
The left believes that because they talk to each other – and only to each other – then they must be right about everything since everyone they know agrees with them. They don't talk to injured veterans. They don't talk to blue-collar workers. They don't talk to the unemployed. They don't talk to farmers or ranchers. They don't talk to the Border Patrol. They don't talk to police officers. They don't talk to … well, anyone they don't want to talk to. And then they wonder why Trump won.
And now the left believes it can win by lawlessness, violence, agitation and coercion. And they wonder why Trump won?
The people have elected Donald Trump; and love him or hate him, he's now our president. If we had to put up with His Majesty Obama for eight years, we can give Trump a try. So shut up, sit down, buckle up, and let's go for a ride.
