America wants an end to its murderous youth culture, without changing its own culture. Alas, America wants something that never was and never will be.
Another murderous tragedy. Another search for a quick and easy fix someone can attach their name to and further their career. That's what governance looks like in America today. From the local school board to the U.S. Congress and the ever-present federal bureaucracy, our lives are a patchwork of easy-and-quick fixes sewn together over time that only make the underlying problem worse every year.
Our culture glorifies murderous violence. From the Weinsteins on down to to the established actresses who said nothing, to the latest starlet victim, Hollywood loves deviants, sociopaths, psychopaths and murderers. It sells movies, America, because you buy it.
America's media are sick beyond repair. The mouseclick is all that matters. The mouthpieces hired by big media conglomerates spew utter nonsense and vile fantasies over the airwaves each and every day, with complete disregard for the facts. More mayhem, please. It sells!
Headline story: Children are raised in families. If a village raises them, they turn out like Hillary Clinton. Gangs are a poor substitute for fathers. The state masquerading as "daddy" just doesn't cut it. America has known this for at least two generations. When are we going to change it?
TRENDING: To DEI for
Political correctness was invented by people who sought to shut down discussion over the things that most need changing to make America great again. The PC crowd needs its mouth collectively washed out with lye soap, so that a productive discussion can begin.
School governance within the unionized model is a complete and utter failure. It exists solely to improve the pay, benefits and retirement of teachers and administrators who work for the school, at the expense of parents. It has zero concern for the welfare of the children in its care. The bigger the district, the worse the problem. School boards are normally filled with political-hack wannabes, just starting their career. Elect a new school board. Tear up the contract. Start over.
School administrators? The whole system exists to get and keep students, the number of which determines funding levels within the school district. Attendance, discipline, subject mastery are afterthoughts – if thoughts at all. Just remember: Administrators do what school boards tell them to do.
Teachers? There are great ones and terrible ones. The union model discourages greatness and encourages mediocrity. Pay raises for all. Without discipline, often prohibited by state law, education is a losing battle. Maybe it's time to bring back corporal punishment, starting with bad administrators and bad teachers.
Then there's the police and the district attorney. Thirty-seven calls to the Florida suspect's home. Really? And that didn't set off any alarm bells? "Hello! Is there anybody home?" Gosh, after 37 visits, they all knew each other well enough that the police could simply have come by in the morning, handcuffed him and driven him around in the backseat of the patrol car during their shift to keep him off the street.
Social media is a cancer devouring our society, to which children are particularly susceptible. That's because social media was designed to be that way, especially for children. Any society that cared about its children would prohibit the use of social media by anyone under the age of about 50.
Let's see … did I leave anything out? Oh yeah. Churches. Maybe it's time for churches, especially large churches, to push back against an educational bureaucracy overrun with self-serving anti-Christian bigots. God has already given you the authority. Use it! If you have to unseat the school board to get into the schools, do it. If you have to change state law, get it changed. Stop pretending it doesn't matter. It matters. Did you really think electing Donald Trump would undo three generations of benign neglect in our culture? You're in a war until Jesus returns, and now that you know what it looks like when the other side is winning, you can accurately count the cost.
There is a path back to a sane, prosperous and godly culture for America. A culture that respects and honors the individual, the family, the local community, the laborer, the business person, the poor and destitute, and our nation as a whole. That view requires a decent respect for the God who created us, even among those who choose not to follow Him. It doesn't require a theocracy, and it doesn't require killing unbelievers. All it requires is Christians once again becoming salt and light, with perhaps an occasional application of salt to the culture's self-inflicted wounds.
