I write with deepest gratitude for those who have prayed for my dad while I was on the sidelines these last few weeks. He was diagnosed with lung and pancreas cancer and told he had six months to live, but it's God who numbers our days, and thankfully, when people pray, it's God that can extend them. Isaiah delivered a similar message to King Hezekiah, but Hezekiah appealed to God – and God granted him 15 more years. Please keep praying.
The people of Nineveh were told they had just over a month before it was over for them. But they cried out to God in humility, repenting and turning from their wicked ways, and God had mercy and relented from the disaster they deserved.
My father (and my husband's father) read from Deuteronomy 28 at our wedding. It is the blessings for obeying God and the curses for disobeying God – we focused on just the first part: "And all these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you, because you obey the voice of the Lord your God."
One of those blessings for obeying God is: "You shall lend to many nations, but you shall not borrow." That's where America was in the not-so-distant past. But now, America is under a curse outlined in that same chapter of Deuteronomy: "He (the alien) shall lend to you, but you shall not lend to him; ... Moreover all these curses shall come upon you and pursue and overtake you, until you are destroyed, because you 'did not obey the voice of the Lord your God, to keep His commandments and His statutes which He commanded you.'"
Don't think we're under a curse? Spend a minute looking at one of the U.S. debt clocks. Here's just one, www.usdebtclock.org, which puts our national debt at $12 trillion and counting and our nation's total debt at more than $54 trillion. Don't think we're under a curse? We are just finding out what's in that debt-raising "first stimulus" bill, while Obama has announced that he's going to try and ram through another along with the most lethal legislation this nation has ever seen: government health-care rationing – with taxpayer-funded killing of the elderly, disabled and those soon to be born.

And if it's Obama-appointed government committees deciding who lives and dies, who's to say they wouldn't handle it the same way they decided which car dealers got to keep their private businesses? Those who contributed more than a few hundred dollars to Obama got to keep their car dealership, and those (primarily Republicans) who didn't were closed, no matter how successful they were. Yeah, we're under a curse.
The good news is there is a way to break a curse. The checklist has been provided in 2 Chronicles 7:14: 1) humble ourselves, 2) pray, 3) seek God's face, and 4) Repent and turn from our wicked ways. That's exactly what we are going to do two months from now on May the 1st.
We're also going to stand against the lies that this administration has spoken. No, Mr. Obama, we are not one of the largest Muslim nations; we are a nation under God – not Allah. Don't believe me? Take a look at some of our state constitutions:
- Alabama 1901, Preamble. We the people of the State of Alabama ... invoking the favor and guidance of Almighty God, do ordain and establish the following Constitution ...
- Alaska 1956, Preamble. We, the people of Alaska, grateful to God and to those who founded our nation and pioneered this great land ...
- Arizona 1911, Preamble. We, the people of the State of Arizona, grateful to Almighty God for our liberties, do ordain this Constitution ...
- Arkansas 1874, Preamble. We, the people of the State of Arkansas, grateful to Almighty God for the privilege of choosing our own form of government ...
Those are just the "A's." On May 1 we're going to have all 50 states represented to remember and repent.
We're also going to repent for how we have turned from God in every area of influence: 1) business, 2) government, 3) media, 4) arts and entertainment, 5) education, 6) the family, and 7) religion, and invite God back into each one.
We are also working on a Christian Manifesto to proclaim what we believe and what we want to see accomplished in our land. The humanists did it, and their influence has been disproportionate ever since. It's time for Christians to stand and make some declarations of our own.
We're going to gather at the Lincoln Memorial to pray, praise and proclaim what our founders had to say. It was Lincoln, himself, who said:
We have forgotten God. We have forgotten the gracious Hand which preserved us in peace, and multiplied and enriched and strengthened us; and we have vainly imagined, in the deceitfulness of our hearts, that all these blessings were produced by some superior wisdom and virtue of our own. Intoxicated with unbroken success, we have become too self-sufficient to feel the necessity of redeeming and preserving grace, too proud to pray to the God that made us! … It behooves us then to humble ourselves before the offended Power, to confess our national sins and to pray for clemency and forgiveness. Now, therefore, in compliance with the … Senate, I … designate … as a day of national humiliation, fasting and prayer.
