The “king tide.” It’s a naturally occurring, predictable event caused by the combined effects of gravitational forces exerted by the moon, the sun and the rotation of the Earth, which manifest in the local rise and fall of sea levels. On Thursday those combined effects will align to create the most exaggerated tides of the year, and eco-activists and their media accomplices are seizing the opportunity to warn of human-caused climate change.

“If you head down the beach this week or wander along the edges of San Francisco Bay,” says San Jose Mercury News environmental reporter Paul Rodgers, “you may just be witnessing California’s future. The ocean is getting closer.”

King tides occur several times a year, but this week’s are the biggest of 2012, rising several feet higher than average tides. Environmentalists are using the event as a disingenuous teaching tool to make the public believe that the use of fossil fuels is warming the atmosphere, melting the glaciers and polar ice caps and forcing the oceans to irreversibly rise to dangerous levels.

“You can read something, but when you see it firsthand, it’s more powerful,” Gary Griggs, director of the Institute of Marine Sciences at UC Santa Cruz, told the Mercury News. Griggs, an outspoken believer in anthropogenic global warming, says, “When you see a place you know, when you see a king tide and say, wow, it’s six inches from the San Francisco International Airport runway, you realize this is real. It’s not just a model.”

Phil Watson, a coastal specialist with Australia’s Office of Environment and Heritage, says the tide will come close to the upper range of climate-change predictions for the sea level rise by the end of this century. “So a king tide today is going to be very close to mean sea level by 2100,” he told Australia’s ABC News.

The question is, are the oceans really rising because of global warming?

In a word, no.

Ever since the end of the last Ice Age, global sea level has been gradually increasing. The melting ice and snow from that bitterly cold event is continually trickling into our great oceans and seas. According to the United Nation’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change’s Fourth Assessment from 2007, over the past 20,000 years sea level has increased nearly 400 feet, and over the past century the average sea level raised a mere 1.8 millimeters per year. Try placing your thumb as close to your forefinger as possible, without the two touching – that’s the amount of sea level rise each year.

Hardly frightening.

But now the environmentalists are wildly claiming that by 2100 that rate of increase will accelerate and the oceans will rise “16.5 inches to 65 inches by 2100,” as reported by the Mercury News.

A forecast like that would get your local TV weatherman fired. “The high temperature tomorrow will be anywhere from 16 degrees to 65 degrees. Back to you, Bill and Kathy.”

The only thing worrisome about the king tide is if it’s appearance coincides with a storm; the associated wind-driven waves could wreak havoc.

Otherwise, if you live along the coast, take a look, snap a photo, and marvel at the wonders of nature.

Yes, it’s been a hot summer – but certainly not everywhere.

“Lamestream” media outlets have gone bonkers with an announcement from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration that “more than 3,000 temperature records have been matched or broken in the past week, continuing a trend that left us with the hottest June on record.”

The first question is, 3,000 out of how many potential locations? 100,000? Half-a-million?

The second question is, who’s keeping the records?

And of course, the mainstream media insist, all of this heat is because of human-caused climate change.

In other words, you are the problem.

Learn about the diabolical plan to control your life by controlling your environment. Get a personally autographed copy of “Eco-Tyranny” today!

The truth be told, my friend, Joe Bastardi, has just crunched the numbers illustrating that half of the U.S experienced above normal temperatures in June, while the other half was below normal.

In the meantime, in places like Scandinavia, June was one of the coldest on record.

At the end of the day, all of these thermal ups and downs are perfectly normal. As I explain in my best-seller, “Climategate,” the warmest decade on record in the United States was the 1930s, with 22 of our now 50 states recording highest temperatures ever during those years.

Examples include 110 degrees in Millsboro, Del., on July 21, 1930; 118 degrees at Keokuk, Iowa, on July 20, 1942; and Steele, N.D., reaching 121 degrees on July 6, 1936. Thirty-eight states recorded all-time highs before 1960. Likewise, the hottest year on record in the U.S. was 1934.

Seeing that the U.S. has maintained the most complete, widespread, long-standing, uninterrupted set of temperature records on the planet, these records should not be taken lightly.

Going back even further, proxy data shows us that between 900 and 1300 AD the average temperature on the earth’s surface was likely at least 2 degrees Fahrenheit (1.2 degrees Celsius) warmer than today. This period is known as the Medieval Warm Period, or MWP.

From 1350 to 1800 AD, there was a global cool down reversing the warmth of the MWP, with temperatures at one point falling to roughly 2 degrees Fahrenheit (1.2 degrees Celsius) cooler than today. This 450-year period is known as the Little Ice Age, or LIA.

Following the LIA, temperatures stabilized for approximately 50 years. Then, between 1850 and 1940, temperatures increased 1 degree Fahrenheit (.6 degrees Celsius).

Next, from 1940 to 1970, the earth cooled about .2 degrees Fahrenheit (.1 degree Censius); this was followed by a minor warming of a mere .34 degrees Fahrenheit (.2 degrees Celsius) occurring between 1970 and 1998.

Thus, since 1850 there has been an increase in temperature of 1.1 degree Fahrenheit (.7 degrees Censius). Everyone – including Al Gore – agrees with this. And, 88 percent of that warming occurred before 1940!

And, Gore and his green friends are forced to agree with this one, too: Since 1998, there has been no additional warming. Period.

Another important point I make in my most recent book, “Eco-Tyranny,” is that most of the world’s thermometers have only been installed since the 1980s, including more than 1,000 in the U.S., with 400 of those placed after 1998. Logically, with the additional data points entered from locations never before measured, there is a statistical likelihood that the overall average temperature of the planet could skew warmer. That’s especially possible when you realize the man responsible for much of the planet’s thermometer distribution and monitoring is a radical environmental activist named James Hansen, director of the Goddard Institute for Space Studies, a division of NASA, who proclaimed in 2009: “We have only four years left …”

By the way, if the designated record keepers would rely solely on satellite data, which accurately monitors the entire planet and has been providing precise readings since 1979, they would see figures confirming that the planet’s temperature is not warming. In fact, Phil Jones, the man at the center of the 2009 Climategate email scandal, finally admitted in 2010 that over the last 15 years there has been no “statistically significant” warming.

Two more factoids that rub the warmists the wrong way: The U.S. spring tornado season was 25 percent of normal, and the current hurricane season is also trending abnormally low.

Take that, eco-freaks.

The U.N. Conference on Sustainable Development is wrapping up in Rio de Janeiro, and we’re all gonna die. That’s the claim made by the eco-tyrannists at this years’ annual international environmental confab. Just the mere presence of so many human beings, they claim, is enough to send the entire world into a complete species meltdown, much like the cataclysmic event that killed off the dinosaurs millions of years ago.

This year’s gathering of representatives from virtually every nation (and environmental organization) on the planet is meant to further the goals presented at the first Rio “Earth Summit” in 1992, via a detailed plan known as Agenda 21 – the global political agenda for the 21st century. The 1992 conference was unique in that it made global warming a household term, introduced the planet to Al Gore and presented the details of a term conjured up by U.N. masterminds nearly 10 years earlier: “sustainable development.”

In short, sustainable development insists that the human species is certainly no more significant than any other species on the planet, and in fact should be discriminated against because, left unchecked, it will do great harm or even destroy all other species. Sustainable development is described by its architect, Maurice Strong, founder of the U.N. Environmental Program, as akin to “putting our planet, Earth Incorporated, if you will, on a sound business basis.”

That “business plan” sees liberty-loving humans as carriers of a plague. It’s prescribed cure is liberty-sapping, heavy-handed regulations and laws designed to control human behavior.

As for Agenda 21, as I write in “Eco-Tyranny,” it’s sustainable development’s version of a PowerPoint presentation. The Agenda begins with a preamble that speaks “the fulfillment of basic needs, improved living standards for all, better protected and managed ecosystems and a safer, more prosperous future. No nation can achieve this on its own; but together we can – in a global partnership for sustainable development.”

It should be no surprise that Agenda 21 deems universal health care a “right.” It also redefines wealth, insisting on “the need for new concepts of wealth and prosperity.” The Agenda also encourages government-sponsored societal brainwashing, stating, “Achieving the goals of environmental quality and sustainable development will require … changes in consumption patterns.” Indeed, “Governments themselves [can] also play a role in [determining] consumption … and can have a considerable influence on both corporate decisions and public perceptions.”

Of course, Agenda 21 also heralds the abolition of private property rights, something Maurice Strong began pushing via the U.N. in 1976 at the Conference on Human Settlements, aka “Habitat I.” At the event Strong proclaimed:

“Private land ownership is a principal instrument of accumulating wealth and therefore contributes to social injustice. Public control of land use is therefore indispensable.”

“Public ownership of land is justified in favor of the common good, rather than to protect the interest of the already privileged.”

“Zoning and land-use planning [are to be used] as a basic instrument of land policy in general and of control of land-use changes in particular.”

“Fiscal controls [are to be employed], e.g. property taxes, tax penalties and tax incentives [in order to eradicate private lands].

As the Agenda states, governments shall “formulate appropriate land-use policies and introduce planning regulations specially aimed at the protection of eco-sensitive zones against physical disruption by construction and construction-related activities.”

This plank from Rio has done more to abolish physical private property in the United States than any other governmental policy.

Coinciding with its plan to usher us into a brave new world, Agenda 21, is responsible for promoting “green jobs,” as well as high-speed rail and other mass transit projects that “promote the use of labor-intensive construction and maintenance technologies which generate employment in the construction sector for the underemployed labor force found in most large cities.”

And we can’t forget the hidden crown jewel of the sustainable development scheme: population control. Agenda 21 demands, “Population policy should also recognize the role played by human beings in environmental and development concerns.” Additionally the document reveals that the population-control method of choice is abortion. Cloaking their message with terms like “curative health facilities,” (a deceptive alias for abortion clinics), the Agenda declares, “Governments should take active steps to implement programs to establish and strengthen preventive and curative health facilities that include women-centered, women-managed, safe and effective reproductive health care and affordable, accessible services, as appropriate, for the responsible planning of family size.”

Now, as the U.N. doubles down on their global sustainable development ploy in Rio, they are rebranding the issue in a new agenda, alleging that the “greatest threat” facing the planet is the extinction of species.

Trouble is, just like with global warming, extinction of species is not a problem.

The massive species losses being cited in Rio are based on sloppy extrapolations, wild guesses and unfounded presumptions – all force-fed into biased, non-validated, virtual-reality computer models that assume increased carbon dioxide levels will raise global temperatures so high that plants, birds, reptiles and animals will be exterminated.

Like their ridiculous <s>global cooling</s>, <s>global warming</s>, climate change scenarios, there is no evidence to support any of these bizarre extinction scenarios.

In a nutshell – we’re not gonna die. However, if we let the U.N. have their way, liberty will be pushed to the brink.

Don’t miss Brian Sussman’s brilliant expose of the debilitating green movement: “Eco-Tyranny: How the Left’s Green Agenda will Dismantle America”

Steve Zwick is the green-reporter for Forbes magazine. Mr. Zwick has also proven himself to be a rhetorical eco-terrorist, and in his most recent column Zwick has revealed the reckless contents of his heart.

“We know who the active denialists are – not the people who buy the lies, mind you, but the people who create the lies. Let’s start keeping track of them now, and when the famines come, let’s make them pay. Let’s let their houses burn until the innocent are rescued. Let’s swap their safe land for submerged islands. Let’s force them to bear the cost of rising food prices,” rants Zwick. It’s time “to make the liars and shirkers pay.”

Later, in a clumsy addendum to his article, Zwick, tries to clarify his rant, stating, “I’m not advocating anyone go out and burn someone’s house down, but am simply asking what to do if a house is already on fire and the owner is culpable. Do we save his house, or the houses of his neighbors?”

Talk about a pathetically weak mea culpa.

Zwick illustrates the vitriol of the left when it comes to the fact that their pet environmental crusade is rapidly being exposed as a fraud. In place of the facts, these green spokespersons employ threats of calamity in attempt to scare the populace into submission.

Take Al Gore, the most well-known anthropogenic global warming advocate, who has been attempting for decades to convince people that their use of fossil fuels will eliminate entire species – perhaps even humans. In his book, “An Inconvenient Truth,” he writes,

”Global warming, along with the cutting and burning of forests and other critical habitats, is causing the loss of living species at a level comparable to the extinction event that wiped out the dinosaurs 65 million years ago. That event was believed to have been caused by a giant asteroid. This time it is not an asteroid colliding with the earth and wreaking havoc: it is us.”

Gore has just threaten us with a calamity akin to a nuclear-bomb attack. If such an asteroid really did slam into the earth, it’s thought that the impact would have been thousands of times more powerful than the largest nuclear bomb. The Nobel laureate is threatening the public with a catastrophe that defies the imagination. Gore is engaging in dangerous speech that could cause an unbalanced mind to go wobbly and do something awful.

And then there is James Hansen, a director at NASA. Hansen is notorious for his reckless, inciting suggestions. In an interview with a counter-culture radio show in San Francisco, he said:

“I tell young people that they had better start to act up. Because they are the ones that will suffer the most. Many of the changes will take time, but we’re setting them in motion now. We’re leaving a situation for our children and grandchildren which is not of their making, but they’re going to suffer because of it.”

And, of course, most recently, there is Keri Norgaard, who teaches at the University of Oregon and is the author of “Living in Denial: Climate Change, Emotions and Everyday Life.” In her book, she compares global-warming skepticism to racism, arguing that there is a “cultural resistance” that keeps some people from acknowledging that humans are responsible for global warming. This condition, she claims, “must be recognized and treated” as an aberrant sociological behavior.

In other words, professor Norgaard believes people like me are mentally ill. I contend she, like her comrades on the left, including Steve Zwick, are losing the battle in the arena of ideas and have turned to scaremongering to try regain relevance. Hopefully their comments will not incite societal panic. After all, it has happened before.

They demonize capitalism and freedom … and it’s working! Read Sussman’s new book, “Eco-Tyranny: How the Left’s Green Agenda Will Dismantle America”

In 2010 James Jay Lee executed a dangerous hostage plot inside the headquarters of the Discovery Channel. Armed with what appeared to be pipe bombs and a cheap pistol, Lee claimed to have been “awakened” by Al Gore’s film, “An Inconvenient Truth.” Lee regarded humans as the “most destructive, filthy, pollutive creatures around.” His desire was to force the Discovery Channel to fill its programming schedule with “solutions to save the planet.” Before he was able to harm innocent life, Lee was shot and killed by police.

Lee is not the first eco-freak to go off the deep end. In 2005, four years after 9/11, the FBI declared eco-terrorism to be America’s No. 1 domestic threat.

Of course, the most notorious eco-terrorist is Ted Kaczynski – the Unabomber. Over a 17-year period during the ’80s and ’90s, Kaczynski sent out mail bombs, killing three people and wounding 22. He also managed to sneak a bomb onto a 747 passenger jet flying from Chicago to Washington, D.C. Fortunately the bomb didn’t go off as planned. Kaczynski’s reign ended in 1996, shortly after he made public his now-infamous manifesto written in his tiny cabin located in the back woods of western Montana. In it he opined, “One of the effects of the intrusion of industrial society has been that over much of the world traditional controls on population have been thrown out of balance. Hence, the population explosion, with all that it implies. … No one knows what will happen as a result of ozone depletion, the greenhouse effect and other environmental problems that cannot yet be foreseen.”

And discovered by the FBI in the Unabomber’s hovel? A well-worn copy of Al Gore’s, “Earth In The Balance.” Kaczynski apparently was quite taken by Gore’s missive. The Unabomber’s copy of “Earth In The Balance” was dog-eared, underlined, marked and well worn.

The infectious perspective of the environmental movement has slithered into every aspect of American life, including our schools, churches and synagogues, and public policy. An entire generation and more have now been raised in a perpetual pall that declares the earth is doomed because of mankind’s pollution. These same citizens have been duped into believing that America’s experiment with capitalism and free markets has been a complete failure, and the major evidence is climate change. Having been fed a continual diet of junk science and raised with strict environmental regulations, they believe such stratagems to be the norm, and, consequently, they simply accept it without question.

This is why we must be armed with the truth to confront the eco-lies that surround us, and make sure we elect people of good character into office, to repeal a host of legislation designed to replace American liberty, with eco-tyranny.
