So the Second Amendment is the problem? OK, while we are about the process of altering the Second Amendment, let’s tweak a few others shall we?
For starters, I’m not sure just anybody should have the right to post an op-ed in the paper or go on TV and spout off. After all, they (or you, or me, or anybody) could be inflammatory. Have they had eight hours of state-approved public-opinion training and a permit from the state to write those words? Words are dangerous! How many people are dead for the influence of “Mein Kampf” or the writings of Marx?
And that whole “due process” thing and ̶ ... continue reading »
It seems the avarice and gluttony of Washington, D.C., cannot be halted. Every disaster, every crisis, every problem – real or contrived – provides them an excuse to bludgeon the taxpayers and rob more of our freedoms. “Obama Sandy aid filled with non-storm goodies.” The nonstop waste, fraud and abuse by the political class is like government gangrene rotting away the body, heart and soul of America. Where does it end? When will justice prevail? When will citizens say “Enough is enough!” and stop these criminals cannibalizing our country?!
[To Pat Buchanan:] You are so wrong. Adam Lanza did not do this for fame, neither did James Holmes in Aurora. They did it because they’re both extremely intelligent individuals sickened by disease. It’s simple. So please, do yourself a favor and remove the assumption that “he was thinking fame as he targeted his victims.” In these two cases, and others, it’s shallow, superficial and overlooks the true cause: They were mentally disturbed and despite the signs (and, oh yes, there were signs!) did not receive the help they needed.
Joseph: Love your articles, keep up the good fight.
The picture of the Israeli teacher strikes a chord with me ["How to stop the slaughter of the innocents"].
American teachers lack the kill instinct. For many of them, there are not enough hours of training to develop the necessary reaction. The solution? Retired military.
The “Troops to Teachers” program already exists. The goal is to put people who have been mentors into the classroom for their second career. We should embrace this program, and arm them!
Consider this: Teachers are ... continue reading »
Today America struggles to answer one question: Why?! Early reports indicate that Adam Lanza’s mental health deteriorated rapidly following the departure of his father. If there is one theme common to school killings that is precisely it: the absence of a strong father-son bond.
There was an unintended consequence of the feminist movement – as women became more independent, alongside this grew a prevailing sentiment that “we don’t need men.” Men, being the fallible creatures they are, have always suffered from a tendency to shirk their duties as father and husband anyway. They were all too willing to oblige ... continue reading »
Sen. Dianne Feinstein is the crudest, most crass politician in Washington. For her to go on national television and push her pet political program before the first innocent victim in Newtown was buried is the most indecent political act I have witnessed in quite a while. She apparently has no sense of propriety, no understanding of the issues involved and decidedly no compassion for those who lost loved ones.
Now is the time for grief and mourning. Now is the time to comfort those who are hurting. Now is the time to reach out to those in need. Now is the time to demonstrate love.
Now is not the time for some base, squawking h ... continue reading »
