'Muslim Mafia' rockets up Amazon Book now ranked No. 1 on current events list Posted: October 15, 2009 12:35 pm Eastern © 2009 WorldNetDaily
Americans concerned about Islamic spies in the halls of power in Washington pushed the new "Muslim Mafia: Inside the Secret Underworld That's Conspiring to Islamize America" up Amazon.com's rankings by more than a million places in just hours yesterday, making it the hottest book in the nation as it now ranks No. 1 on Amazon's Current Events list.
The project from WND Books by counter-terrorism investigator P. David Gaubatz and "Infiltration" author Paul Sperry documents the ultimate goal of the Council on American-Islamic Relations – to transform the United States into an Islamic nation under the authority of the Quran. Slated to hit shelves today, "Muslim Mafia" charted at No. 1,073,896 at 10 a.m. Eastern yesterday. But as of this morning, the book has climbed in all categories. It's now No. 1 in the categories of current events, Islam and terrorism, freedom & security and No. 5 in nonfiction. The book now is at No. 16 overall and climbing. "Muslim Mafia" soared despite having no media coverage until it was discussed last night on Michael Savage's nationally syndicated radio program. "I certainly expected a lot of interest in this book," said Joseph Farah, founder and CEO of WND Books. "But this is a phenomenal story. Clearly, people are waking up to the depth of the dangers involved and the frighteningly high level of influence attained by established terror entities and their front groups." (Story continues below) In "Muslim Mafia," co-author Sperry, an investigative journalist and expert on terrorism, and Gaubatz, a counter-terrorism investigator and former Air Force special agent, exhaustively document how the nonprofit CAIR operates under the ultimate purpose of making fundamental changes in the United States. The investigation was described as even more daring than the recent ACORN sting performed by two young undercover investigators. Gaubatz's own son, Chris Gaubatz, posed as recent Islam convert David Marshall and served as an intern at CAIR's national headquarters in Washington, D.C. Gaubatz spirited out 12,000 pages of documents during the secret operation. At a congressional press conference yesterday, U.S. lawmakers called for an investigation into the Muslim non-profit group suspected of infiltrating congressional offices with interns. Rep. Sue Myrick, R-N.C., founder of the anti-terrorism caucus, said "Muslim Mafia" ties the allegations to an internal memo by CAIR. Myrick's office said the "Muslim Mafia" co-authors unearthed the January 2007 memo. The lawmaker has worked with Sperry to get educational information for her anti-terrorism caucus. She wrote the forward to the book. Myrick, along with Reps. Trent Franks, R-Ariz.; John Shadegg, R-Ariz.; and Paul Broun, R-Ga., are calling on the Department of Justice to share with Congress an executive summary of findings that led the FBI to officially sever ties with CAIR. Myrick noted "Muslim Mafia" also alleges CAIR has connections to Hamas. She points out the Muslim group was named an unindicted co-conspirator in the 2008 Holy Land Foundation trial in Texas. The case resulted in guilty verdicts to 108 charges stemming from the funneling of more than $12 million to Hamas. The lawmakers are also urging the Capitol's sergeant at arms to see whether CAIR infiltrated congressional offices, specifically the judiciary, intelligence and homeland security committees, as referenced in the 2007 memo. Finally, Myrick and her colleagues are asking the Internal Revenue Service to investigate the legality of CAIR's non-profit status.
