'Political correctness caused Fort Hood terror attack'
National security advocate cites fear of 'discrimination' accusations

Brigitte Gabriel

A national security advocate, citing the repeated demands in the Quran for violence against unbelievers, is blaming the deaths of 13 adults and an unborn child in the terrorist attack at Fort Hood in Texas squarely on political correctness.

That political correctness, said Brigitte Gabriel, who runs the ACT! for America organization, is being fomented by organizations such as the Council on American-Islamic Relations, which has aggressively attacked critics of Islam.

She has posted a YouTube video accusing military officers of putting their own soldiers in danger after being intimidated into silence about the dangers of radical Islam.

In the case of Nidal Malik Hasan, 39, a psychiatrist now accused in the Fort Hood terror attack, his coworkers have said he was known for his militant Islamic views. Hasan reportedly was disciplined for pushing his beliefs on others, routinely wore Islamic dress and the morning of the massacre gave away his furniture and Qurans. Further, his business card carried an abbreviation for "Soldier of Allah."

The alarm bells should have been ringing in every room in the Pentagon long before the trigger was pulled, Gabriel asserted.

"In the worst terrorist attack on American soil since Sept. 11, the question so many are asking is 'How could such a hatemonger Islamic ideologue be allowed to serve as an officer in the [U.S.] Army,'" she said.

The answer should be a "deafening wake-up call to America," she declared.

"Political correctness. It's no longer annoying and frustrating. It's no longer a restraint on common sense and speech. It's dangerous and deadly," Gabriel said.

She said she's been warning the military about the potential danger for years, only to have her message squelched repeatedly by political correctness. She noted one of her scheduled addresses to 100 officers was canceled because of fear she could "offend" a single Yemeni Muslim.

"Why is political correctness so powerful that there are some in the military that would risk the lives of their soldiers [rather than] be accused of discrimination?" she said.

"Those same leaders who would bravely lead troops into battle are cowering in fear of political correctness," she said.

"For years, CAIR has bullied, berated and smeared anyone who dared to criticize radical Islam," she continued. "CAIR has been the go-to organization for the media and our government. This in spite of its documented links to Hamas and its long list of leaders and officials who have been arrested, indicted or convicted on terrorism-related charges."

Even during the aftermath of the Fort Hood terror attack, she said, CAIR was insisting that Islam had nothing to do with the attack.

President Obama, she noted, parroted the claims when he spoke about the attack.

"He must have missed the hundreds of passages in the Quran not only allowing but exhorting violence against unbelievers," she said, citing:

  • "Fight and kill the unbelievers wherever you find them."

  • "Smite them on their necks."

  • "Strike off their heads."

"The Fort Hood terrorist attack is a direct and tragic consequence of political correctness," she said.

On YouTube, commenters agreed.

"Tell that to this current Muslim president!" said one.

"Amen," said another. "Brigitte is a very brave lady and I stand with her" and ACT! for America.

Only days earlier, Gabriel asked for support for a petition calling for the U.S. government to conduct an immediate and thorough investigation into the Council on American-Islamic Relations in the "interest of national security."

It seeks that:

  • The U.S. Department of Justice share with each member of the U.S. Congress an executive summary of the findings that led them to name CAIR as a co-conspirator in a terrorism case.

  • The House Sergeant at Arms work with all members of Congress and their top staff, particularly those members who sit on the House Judiciary, Homeland Security, and Intelligence Committees, to perform background checks on staff under their employ, considering evidence that CAIR has strategically worked to place staffers there.

  • The U.S. Internal Revenue Service perform a full and thorough investigation into the business activities of CAIR, specifically their lobbying activities, to judge if they are in violation of their federal non-profit status as a 501(c)(3) organization.

Her points are similar to the demands of four members of Congress who were alarmed at the revelations in "Muslim Mafia," by Paul Sperry and David Gaubatz, which was based on an extended undercover operation at the organization that lobbies for Muslim interests but is considered by many in law enforcement to be a front group for terrorists.

Reps. Sue Myrick, R-N.C.; Trent Franks, R-Ariz.; John Shadegg, R-Ariz.; and Paul Broun, R-Ga., have called for an internal House investigation of CAIR's activities as well as a review from the Department of Justice.
