Spitzer's sex scandal supplants sedition

Portland, Ore.

Denver, Colo.

St. Louis, Mo.

Washington, D.C.

Toledo, Ohio.

Ithaca, N.Y.

Milwaukee, Wis.

The list is endless.

Red state, blue state, it doesn't matter anymore. What the hell is going on?

Attacks on military recruiting centers are taking place all across the United States, and many of our leaders in law enforcement and government don't realize the size and scope of this violent and hateful campaign against our troops here at home. This isn't just an isolated incident in Berkeley, Calif., where everybody knows that there is a fierce anti-war sentiment.

You probably also know about the bombing of the Times Square military recruiting center.

But do you know how frighteningly frequent and increasingly violent the attacks against recruiting centers have become?

(Column continues below)

Eight gunshots were fired at the recruiting office in Denver, Colo. A bomb was planted at the recruiting center in St. Louis. Human blood was splattered across a recruiting office in Ithaca, N.Y. Manure or feces were smeared on the offices of Toledo, Ohio, and Milwaukee, Wis. Recruiters cars have been firebombed in Alabama and Maryland.

If a recruiting center in your neighborhood hasn't been targeted yet, give it time; the "peace" crowd, led by groups such as "Funk the War," "War is S***," and "The World Can't Wait," will likely bring their campaign of violence against our troops to your hometown pretty quickly.

Today – Friday, March 14 – I am taking the wraps off an exhaustive investigative report by Move America Forward that chronicles the attacks against recruiting centers; the report is disgusting and appalling.

As part of the news conference, we will also be debuting a new national television ad campaign that calls attention to this problem and asks each and every one of you to take a side – in support of our troops and against those who are actively fighting against them here on U.S. soil.

You must take a moment and see the report and TV ad at the Move America Forward website.

Here's an image from the gripping new ad campaign, showing anti-war activists in Portland, Ore., burning a U.S. soldier in effigy and then putting Old Glory into the flames as well. They dance around in delight, like jackals ripping at their prey.

You can't imagine how much contempt I hold for those who dishonor and attack our troops. I've dedicated most of my efforts as a conservative activist toward using my voice to speak for the military, who can legally do so only in the most narrowly proscribed circumstances.

Meeting thousands of our troops serving overseas on the frontlines of the war on terror has tattooed a flag on my heart and soul. These men and women are not just America's finest; they are God's finest.

Many of these troops signed up for duty after the bombing of the Trade Towers of New York, recognizing at a visceral level that they must serve, because who else will? Our volunteer Army embraces the notions of duty, honor, service, dignity. I know these words sound trite, but I hear them over and over again – though usually with a few profanities attached toward the Islamic fundamentalists who want to murder them, their families and their countrymen.

I have been accused of thinking in black and white terms when it comes to the war on fanatics. I make no apology for that. There is no gray area when it comes to supporting our troops – either you do or you don't.

One of the more interesting, and depressing, things I've encountered in my discussions with various individuals and organizations in Washington, D.C., is that there is almost no awareness at all of this epidemic by most of our political leaders or law enforcement. The FBI, Homeland Security and the U.S. attorney's in every state can start by using every one of the leads posted in our report – where individuals brag about their efforts and call on others to join in the fight against our troops.

Yeah, everybody is caught up in "Kristen" the hooker who caught now disgraced New York Gov. Elliot Spitzer's eye, and the other aspects of this sleazy sex scandal. But before you linger too long on the media reports, here's a warning to all of us from POG, an anarchist group in Pittsburgh, Pa.

"On Wednesday, March 19, POG will be holding a torch-lit march to a modern-day castle of abominations – our local military recruiting station. If the station remains open, we intend to evict it and everything inside of it, occupy the location, and transform it into something useful for the community. We'll also be bringing a movable cage in which to confine military recruiters until they no longer pose a danger to our friends and neighbors."

In our challenged educational times, can anyone define the word "sedition"? Here's how the online dictionaries define it:

1. Incitement of discontent or rebellion against a government.

2. Any action, esp. in speech or writing, promoting such discontent or rebellion.

3. Archaic. Rebellious disorder.

We are watching. We are waiting. As the leftists say, ACT NOW.
