It's called the U.S. 9th Circus Court of Appeals for a reason.

The reason became more obvious last week when Chief Judge Alex Kozinski, presiding over the trial of a hard-core pornographer, was himself revealed to be posting pornographic images on his family's publicly accessible website.

Kozinski has taken a dismissive attitude toward the whole affair, admitting he posted at least some of the images and dragging his son through the mud by blaming him for others. He didn't apologize. He made excuses, shrugged it off.

Now, he magnanimously has offered to cooperate fully in any investigation.

What happens to the case of the pornographer before him?

The case initially was suspended – to give attorneys on both sides the opportunity to decide whether they want Kozinski to step down from the trial, which he did on Friday.

Step down from the trial?

Has America gone completely insane – stark, raving bonkers?

This pervert judge should be arrested and frog-marched in an orange jumpsuit right into a federal prison to await a trial of his own. In the meantime, if he doesn't immediately resign in disgrace from the bench, he should removed for cause as judges and most public officials have the privilege of serving the people while they conduct themselves professionally, ethically and morally.

Ask yourself this: How will anyone appearing before this judge be able to take him seriously? What kind of moral standing will he have sitting in judgment of others after this public humiliation and disgrace? Does America care at all about standards of decency and common sense anymore?

Let's take a peak at what Kozinski had on his website:

• A picture of two nude women on all fours painted to look like Holstein dairy cows
• Images of masturbation
• A video of a man being pursued by a sexually aroused donkey
• A slide show featuring a striptease with a transsexual

"If you found this kind of thing in your kid's bedroom you would wash your kid's mouth out with soap," said Laurie Levenson, a former federal prosecutor and law professor at Loyola University. "We expect more from a judge. Character counts for judges because they have so much power and affect so many people's lives."

That's an understatement, as far as I'm concerned.

Now consider the fact that, until this incident, Kozinski had been frequently mentioned as a possible Supreme Court candidate. Chances are, there will be no discipline whatsoever for this judge because he has a lifetime appointment. They can be censured by fellow judges but removed only by an act of Congress.

Now what do you think the chances are that a Congress, whose members include those who have hosted male-prostitution rings in their homes, have been arrested for soliciting homosexual sex in a public men's room and various other sexual offenders, is going to remove Kozinski because of some naughty pictures?

It's not going to happen.

And this, my friends, is how Western Civilization ends. This is how we continue to define deviancy down. This is how the lowest common denominator sets the standard of morality and legality in our once-great country.

Don't think for a minute we've even hit the bottom of the barrel. I can promise you it will get even worse in the coming years. The popular culture is still sliding down the slippery slope of degeneracy and degradation. And the political culture has presented us with the worst non-choice of potential presidential leadership in modern history and set the stage for even greater violence to the Constitution by the next Congress.

Kozinski is the personification what our culture has become.

He is a living illustration of how far our leadership has plummeted from the days of Washington, Jefferson, Madison and Adams.

He is a sickening reminder of how we live in an increasingly lawless and immoral country presided over by devilish fiends beyond accountability.
