Samir Kuntar
JERUSALEM – A leading member of Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas' Fatah organization oversaw a delegation yesterday to visit recently freed Palestinian terrorist child-killer Samir Kuntar, calling the convicted murderer "beautiful," and a "pure and clean" hero.

Palestinian Liberation Organization ambassador to Lebanon Abbas Zaki, a senior member of the Fatah Central Committee, yesterday led the delegation – which included other PLO and Fatah members – to visit Kuntar in Lebanon's Druze Mount village of Abayeh.

Kuntar was serving multiple life sentences in an Israeli prison for murdering three Israelis, including smashing to death a 4-year-old girl with the butt of his rifle.

Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert released Kuntar and four other terrorists earlier this month in a controversial prisoner exchange deal with the Hezbollah terror group that saw the remains of two Israeli soldiers returned to Israel.

Zaki's office e-mailed to WND his in-person statements to Kuntar:

"These are great hours that we are celebrating a big victory represented by your being released. ...You are a leader of Arab and Palestinian prisoners. I am proud that this delegation has you in our minds and hearts. Your beautiful image; your pure and clean person who dedicated life since very young to Palestine and to Palestinian causes.

"You went to Palestine as hero, and you left when you were a proud man. ... We in Palestine are proud and confident that the hero Kuntar will be a symbol of the most clear address of the national direction and values of the Palestinian cause. You will be the symbolic ambassador of Palestine in Lebanon.

The Fatah operative went on to heap praise on Hezbollah.

"If the Palestinians knew how to fight and negotiate like Hezbollah, Israel would have been in huge trouble," he said.

He called for "victory" for the "struggle to liberate all of Palestine."

Zaki is, by far, not the only Fatah leader to sing Kuntar's praises.

When Kuntar was released, Abbas himself praised the Hezbollah terror group for successfully orchestrating the prisoner swap deal with Israel and upheld Kuntar as a "hero."

Abbas' Fatah organization, considered moderate by the U.S. and Israel, last week sponsored festivities and victory rallies throughout the West Bank, celebrating the release of Kuntar and other terrorists during the Hezbollah exchange deal. On April 22, 1979, Kuntar led a group of four terrorists who entered Israel from Lebanon by boat. The four murdered a policeman who discovered them when the first entered Israeli territory.

The terrorists then raided an Israeli border town, breaking into an apartment and taking hostage 28-year-old Danny Haran along with his 4-year-old daughter, Einat. The mother, Smadar Haran, was able to hide in a crawl space above the bedroom with her 2-year-old daughter, Yael, and a neighbor.

Smadar accidentally smothered her daughter to death while trying to mute her cries. Kuntar shot Danny Haran to death and then beat to death Haran's daughter with his rifle.
