PHOTONETDAILY Bigfoot hunters claim others of species live Photograph purports to reveal dead 500-pounder Posted: August 15, 2008 6:25 pm Eastern © 2009 WorldNetDaily
The Bigfoot hunters who this week publicized a photograph they say is of a dead Sasquatch today told a news conference in California they saw other members of the same species watch them while they were loading the body onto their truck. However, there were few other details and little concrete information revealed at the Palo Alto news conference held by Rick Dyer and Matthew Whitton, who say they have a Bigfoot carcass stored in a freezer and are making arrangements for an autopsy and other tests on the legendary creature.
The men had promised to reveal proof of their discovery at the news conference but, according to Fox News, the evidence amounted to two photographs, one purported to be the mouth of the creature while the other showed a creature running through the woods. WND previoulsy reported the announcement by Whitton, a Clayton County, Ga., police officer who has been on administrative leave recovering from an injury he received while pursuing a suspect, and Dyer, a former corrections officer. The two men own Bigfoot Global LLC., a business that sells Bigfoot expeditions. (Story continues below) They are collaborating with Tom Biscardi of Searching for Bigfoot, Inc., who also was at today's news conference, to study the evidence. The hunters originally announced their find on "Squatch Detective," an Internet radio show hosted by Steve Kulls. Dyer declined to allow a representative of the show to confirm the story; he said he would allow only one person to view the evidence. "The only person we would allow to come down and verify the body was 'the real Bigfoot Hunter,' Tom Biscardi," Dyer said. The men said today they "stumbled" on the creature but couldn't reveal more details, such as the location, because they were concerned it was "endangered," Fox reported. At the news conference, Whitton said, "The first thing that pops into your head is Bigfoot. You take a step back and say that can't be. I didn't believe in Bigfoot at the time." But he said he "has to come to terms with it and realize you've got something special, and that's what it was." Biscardi promised to put a team of scientists together to examine the specimen, the report said. Whitton recounted how he and Dyer found the "body" and said that more Bigfoots 'paralleled' them as they were loading it onto a flatbed truck, Fox News reported. Skeptics abounded. "This 'body' has little to do with Bigfoot and everything to do with a Sasquatch costume that someone developed after watching too many gorilla movies," Loren Coleman, who runs a blog devoted to unknown animals, said. Alternative explanations even were offered. "It definitely looks like our costume," Jerry Parrino, owner of TheHorrorDome.com, told FoxNews.com. Fox also reported Jeffrey Meldrum, an anthropologist from Idaho State, said he's had interactions with Biscardi in the past, "and based on that history, I would say that anything he is involved in is suspect." Federal officials expressed a high level of uninterest. The Bigfoot hunters' website said scientists will do studies in the coming months and the findings will be documented on film. The team also said it would organize an expedition to capture another Bigfoot creature alive. The Searching for Bigfoot website offered the following "vital statistics" on the body:
According to LiveScience.com, on Aug. 19, 2005, Biscardi appeared on the radio show "Coast to Coast with George Noory," claiming his group had captured a Bigfoot a week earlier, a male beast that weighed over 400 pounds and stood eight feet tall. He said he would present photos of the Bigfoot in 2005. "It turned out to be a hoax," the website said.
