A candidate to support!

Some people who only read book titles, headlines and bumper stickers got the mistaken idea that I am suggesting Americans stay home on Election Day.

Nothing could be further from the truth!

In my book "None of the Above: How 2008 Is the Year to Cast the Ultimate Protest Vote," I specifically and carefully explain over and over again how important it is to cast votes Nov. 4 – just not for John McCain or Barack Obama.

For the "None of the Above" campaign to succeed, it is absolutely essential for Americans to vote – not to sit home and complain about the bad choices before them.

I also explain why it is so important for us to work hard to throw as many bums out of Congress as possible this year. Even though the major-party choices for president are so bad, there are many excellent men and women seeking election or re-election to the House and Senate this year – and we have to do everything in our power to support them.

(Column continues below)

One such man is my friend Lt. Col. Allen B. West, the former Iraqi war hero who was inexplicably disciplined for displaying courage and decisiveness in the battlefield – and for very likely saving the lives of some of his men.

West is challenging incumbent Democrat Rep. Ron Klein in the 22nd District in south Florida, and many Americans – myself included – consider his election one of the most important contests to be decided this fall.

Lt. Col. Allen B. West

My only regret is that he is not running for president. If he were, I would not currently be out pushing a book called "None of the Above," and would instead be aggressively campaigning to see him in the White House.

Col. West is the kind of man America needs in the Oval Office. He is the kind of principled leader, committed to the Constitution, we need in Congress and in the presidency.

Check him out for yourself. He's the whole package. This is not only the kind of man you would want with you in the foxhole, this is the kind of man you want representing you in Washington – a man of integrity, character, moral clarity.

This is a candidate I am excited about.

Maybe you ask, "Farah, what can I do to support Col. West? I don't live in his district."

The answer is simple. Do what I am doing. Send him the most generous campaign contribution you can. Maybe you don't have a man like West running in your district. I doubt you do because they are few and far between. But you can support Col. West with your checkbook – and, even with a modest contribution of $20 to $25, you could make the difference in this race. A WND feature story on Col. West says he is getting that kind of support from around the country. So, pour it on! Let's show America and the Republican Party the kind of candidates who inspire enthusiasm.

Make no mistake. Running against a congressional incumbent is never an easy challenge. This will be an uphill fight all the way. But Col. West, with your help, is equal to the task at hand. We have a great opportunity with this race. It's not just for the people of the 22nd Congressional District in Florida. It's for all Americans.

I urge you to visit Col. West's campaign website, familiarize yourself with this great man and make a sacrificial contribution to his campaign.

Do it today so he can make the most of those resources before Election Day.

What a story it will be to see him upset the political establishment Nov. 4.
