Barack Obama: Enemy of the Constitution

Forget William Ayers, for a moment.

Forget Rev. Jeremiah Wright.

Forget the unequivocal and enthusiastic support Barack Obama gets from the Communist Party USA.

Forget what Michelle Obama has said about not being proud of her country, which she characterizes as "downright mean."

Forget the support Obama has received from foreign terrorists such as the leadership of Hamas.

Forget the fact that Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan sees him as a "messiah."

Forget Obama's wild proposal for transferring $845 billion of U.S. taxpayer dollars into wasteful foreign aid programs to end poverty.

Forget Obama's plan for a "civilian national security force" to be funded equally with the Defense Department.

Forget Obama's plans to scrap all new defense systems, including anti-missile defense, even as China is preparing for a military showdown with the U.S. for the near future.

(Column continues below)

Forget Joe the Plumber.

Forget all that – because it doesn't matter.

Obama has demonstrated a Teflon-like ability to deflect criticism and even concern about his associations, campaign promises, endorsements and legislative proposals.

To those under the spell of Obama, and that includes most of the U.S. news media, nothing matters.

He is our destiny. He is going to bring America "transformative change." Nothing sticks to him.

But now a more fundamental question about Barack Obama has been raised. It's not because of a gaffe. It's not because of an association with someone else who did something despicable when he was 8 years old. This is about who Barack Obama is and what he believes in the deepest part of his soul.

Back in 2001, then–Illinois state legislator Obama gave an interview to Chicago's public radio station WBEZ-FM about the nature of the U.S. Constitution, the power and authority of the federal government and his desire to redistribute wealth using the courts and legislatures. For anyone who cherishes the Constitution's limits on government power and its protections of fundamental, unalienable individual rights, Obama's words are chilling, to say the least.

The interview leaves no doubt that Obama, the likely next president of the U.S., believes the Constitution needs to be scrapped, rewritten or, even more dangerously, reinterpreted by activist judges to permit what it clearly does not permit in plain English – the use of government to redistribute wealth to achieve what he terms "economic justice in society."

Furthermore, this self-proclaimed "constitutional scholar" betrayed what he really believes about the greatest governing document in the history of liberty and self-government – that it is a charter of "negative liberties," that only explains "what the federal government can't do to you, but doesn't say what the federal government or state government must do on your behalf."

I may not have attended law school. I may not have taught in law school. But I have read the Constitution thoroughly and recognize that statement as an outright lie – a total distortion of reality.

The Constitution clearly sets out the scope of the federal government's powers in positive language as well as negative. Its stated purpose is "to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity."

Nowhere does the Constitution provide for government to concern itself with spreading wealth around – and that's a problem for Obama, who, in this interview, shows himself for what he is, what he has always been.

Barack Obama is an enemy of the Constitution.

If he is elected president Nov. 4 and must swear to defend the Constitution in a swearing-in ceremony Jan. 20, he will not mean it – at least not the way most Americans would mean it.

Obama doesn't like the Constitution as it was written and amended. He sees it as defective, flawed, in need of an overhaul.

This is the document that defines who we are and what we believe as a nation. It is the document that limits government from becoming the oppressor it is in most other nations of the world. It is the document that sets Americans apart from others and binds Americans together. It is the document upon which our national heritage of liberty is based.

Listen to Barack Obama's own words. Read them – again and again. Compare them with what the Constitution actually says and means.

Don't let this dangerous, anti-American radical demagogue shred your Constitution.
