Hakim has over 30 years of experience in the energy and environment sectors during which time he has been responsible for implementing more than 400 successful programs/projects in Canada and around the world. Working in classic mechanical engineering since the beginning of his career, Mr. Zahar has implemented several new industrial plants and improved the resource efficiency of several existing ones. For the past 9 years, he has been extremely active in the climate change mitigation and adaptation fields with several projects in Asian countries and around the World.
Utilizing his vast experience in developing and concluding large turnkey projects, Mr. Zahar currently provides advice and guidance from the early steps of designing innovative concepts like ESCOs, contracting the suppliers of raw material and for the equipment and project management as well as the improvements of operation of plants throughout the world. He has worked with the World Bank, United Nations Organizations, numerous regional development banks and several International Development Agencies.
During his collegiate career, Hakim earned a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Tunis University. He is a member of the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers. In the time away from his busy schedule, Mr. Zahar greatly enjoys contributing to Rotary activities for providing drinkable water and sanitation to poor communities around the World, playing chess and traveling.
