It can cost approximately $1 million to construct a brick and mortar flow loop facility for training plant operating and maintenance staff. The Virtual Flow Loop Trainer is a practical and cost-effective alternative that operates on personal computers across a company’s existing IT infrastructure. The Virtual Flow Loop Trainer provides the same level of training in a convenient, flexible environment that yields higher student throughput and increased engagement.
Serious Gaming technology, when applied to the appropriate training situation, has been proven effective and is widely used by the U.S. Military. The challenge has been applying virtual reality in a cost-effective manner that provides a true training benefit. GSE has combined its simulation expertise, instructional system design capability, and visualization technology to provide a first-of-a-kind, practical training tool for industrial operations. The Virtual Flow Loop Trainer is applicable across all industries and learning organizations that need to train their staff and students on both the fundamental and practical operations of a wide variety of pumps, valves, controllers, and instrumentation.
The Virtual Flow Loop Trainer counters the inherent limitations of physical training installations and delivers improved outcomes. The virtual environment allows GSE to embed additional training information and real-time, high fidelity simulation data into the training scenario for a deeper understanding of component and system functions, while enabling an instructor to present phenomena that are difficult for students to visualize and understand. The Virtual Flow Loop Trainer also provides the benefits of a simulated platform: no maintenance costs, safety or environmental issues; the ability to quickly reset the training scenario for more frequent practice; and the ability to easily expand the training system to add new equipment.
