DESCRIPTION:
The health sector invested $193 million dollars in U.S. election campaigns, according to the Center for Responsive Politics, a non-partisan group that analyzes political spending. More money was contributed to President Barack Obama than Mitt Romney, but when congressional races were added in, Republicans received 56 percent of all health sector contributions. Donors included pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries, health insurance providers, hospitals, and organizations representing health care professionals.
To support veterans and their families, CVS/pharmacy is launching a flu shot donation campaign during the week of Veterans Day, November 11th to 17th, to benefit the USO. The company has pledged up to $100,000 through a $3 donation made for every flu shot.
