We are very proud that Skype's technology helps enable amazing learning experiences for students across the globe. From explorer Mark Wood connecting classrooms in Nepal and Tsunami-damaged Japan for an environmental discussion to students getting a chance to learn from NASA and even surprise video calls from NBA superstar Shaquille O'Neal, Skype in the classroom empowers teachers to bring truly remarkable experiences to their schools.
But now we're going to go a step further in remarkable experiences.
Starting today, we're hosting Santa In the Classroom, a contest providing teachers with a chance to win* $10,000 in technology products from the Microsoft Store and a Skype call with Santa Claus this holiday season!
Students will be able to broaden their horizons through the use the new technology, and exposure to the cutting-edge devices and software will give them a clear advantage in their next years of school.
Here are more specifics on how K-12 teachers and educators can enter:
• Skype in the classroom website:
Existing Skype in the classroom members can sign-up by visiting the Santa in the classroom project page and clicking on the "Sign Up to Take Part" button.
Teachers who are not members of Skype in the classroom can join here and then follow the above steps.
You must be a teacher or educator in order to be eligible to win. The contest starts today and ends on Sunday, December 9th, 2012 at 11:59 p.m. PT. We'll pick three winners based on creativity of the entries, as well as uniqueness of need and potential to improve the educational community.
If you have questions, please post them in the comments section. We're looking forward to seeing your entries - good luck!
* No purchase necessary. Open to K-12 / equivalent accredited schools. See Official Rules for details.
