Stocks Post Gains In Quiet Trade On Eve Of Job Report
Stocks advanced in quiet volume Thursday on the eve of the monthly employment report. The Nasdaq tacked on 0.5% while the S&P 500 and the NYSE composite added 0.3% and 0.2%, respectively. The IBD 50 rose 0.6%. Volume fell on both major exchanges. The small-cap Russell 2000, which has outperformed the major indexes since the market hit its recent closing low on Nov. 15, was fractionally down.
