“Clothes for Smiles”—that’s the title of clothing retailer Uniqlo’s new campaign to turn the hopes of children around the world into reality. The $10 million project will be funded by sales of HeatTech and Ultra-Light Down products, and is being developed in partnership with UNICEF, which will receive a $5 million dollar donation. The remaining $5 million goes to projects suggested by online applicants as judged by a panel that includes Novak Djokovic, the number one ranked male tennis player, and a UNICEF Ambassador.

Hershey is the newest member of the newly founded Sustainability Accounting Standards Board. The company has joined the Advisory Council of the Board as part of its commitment to reporting on its expanding sustainability practices. The SASB aims to develop sustainability accounting standards for 89 industries to give investors, companies and stakeholders a comprehensive, transparent view of a company’s sustainability risks and opportunities.

Coffee growers of high quality Arabica beans in Colombia whose output has been damaged by climate change will be getting insurance in a new program financed by the government. The $16 million fund will support 96 percent of the country’s 500,000 growers who farm less than 12 acres in coffee beans. Three years of bad weather, a 40 percent decline in bean prices, and a 6 percent increase in the peso valuation have hit small Colombian coffee producers hard.
