Energy stocks up; Conoco sells Algerian assets

Energy stocks rose on Tuesday, up a second day as U.S. equities also gained on continued hopes a budget deal might be imminent. ConocoPhillips says it agrees to sell Algerian business unit to Indonesia’s state-controlled energy company PT Pertamina for $1.75 billion, part of the firm’s ongoing asset-sale program.
