Stocks Start Higher As Market Watches For Cliff Deal
Stocks opened higher in strong trade Monday as investors watched the federal budget negotiations come down to the year's last trading session. The Nasdaq led, with a 0.6% gain. The S&P 500 was up 0.3% and the Dow Jones industrial average struggled with a fractional gain. Volume was solid, up 24% on the Nasdaq and 30% higher on the NYSE compared with Friday's action.
