U.S. Geothermal Industry to Expand 'Staggering' Potential on Techno Innovation
JOHANNESBURG--January 7, 2013--Written by Richard Finlayson, Senior International Editor for Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas)--The U.S. Geothermal Energy Association (GEA) sees good progress being made in the sector in 2013. In 2012, seven new geothermal projects and expansions came online, adding a total of 147.05 megawatts (MW) of capacity, which represents the second-highest annual capacity addition since the production tax credit was extended to geothermal in 2005. The GEA also has identified 13 geothermal companies with projects in the third or fourth stage of development, and some of which are expected to come online in 2013.
