S&P 500 Strikes 5-Year High On Good News From Abroad
Stocks climbed Thursday, with the S&P 500 hitting a five-year high as good news from abroad painted a picture of a healing global economy. The S&P 500 added 0.8%. The index hasn't seen these levels since last September -- and it hasn't closed this high since January 2008. The Dow Jones industrial average rose 0.6% and the Nasdaq gained 0.5%. Volume was mixed: Nasdaq's action fell a smidge but the NYSE's increased, according to preliminary data. The
