HP closes German business unit, lays of 850
Hewlett-Packard Friday announced that it was closing a German consulting subsidiary in Rüsselsheim, laying off approximately 850. A further 250 will have the opportunity to move to jobs with HP clients and partners. The site closure comes as part of HP's reconfiguration of its Enterprise Services Division, which provides IT and business consulting and is mostly made up of the remnants of Electronic Data Systems, a company HP (NYSE:HPQ) bought for $13.9 billion in 2008.
