Award winning writers, performers and musicians scheduled to appear include:

DENNIS CHRISTOPHER (@DennisChristo4), a poet still in motion and a well known professional actor & writer.  He recently appeared on stage in "THE TEMPRAMENTALS" by Jon Marans  and "GRAND MOTEL" by Michael Sargent. You’ve seen him in film in "DJANGO UNCHAINED" by Quentin Tarantino,  “FELLINI'S ROMA" "BREAKING AWAY" "9-30-55" "CHARIOTS OF FIRE" "A WEDDING", "FADE TO BLACK" "DON'T CRY IT'S ONLY THUNDER" "NINE LIVES" "STEPHEN KING'S IT". You’ve seen him on TV in PROFILER, ANGEL, SIX FEET UNDER, DEADWOOD, THE LOST ROOM, etc.

JO ANDERSON, a talented writer/performer first began reading at Poetry in Motion during the Largo days.  Between then and now she has enjoyed being an actor in television and films such as JFK, DEAD AGAIN, SISTERS, and EARTH TO THE MOON.  In 2012 her screenplay THE LAST MIRACLE placed in the top ten of Francis Ford Coppola's Zoetrope screenwriting contest. Currently she is writing a one-woman play.  She's thrilled to find herself, once again, at one of her favorite Literary homes.

MICHAEL HARRIS, Actor, Writer, Musician. His theater credits in New York include Lincoln Center/Alice Tully Hall, Ridge Theater, Next wave Festival, Creation Prod. , Wooster Group at The Performing Garage. La Mama ETC, PS122, Soho Rep. His credits in California include The Mark Taper Forum, La Jolla Playhouse, South Coast Rep, A.C.T., Pacific Rep, The Wilton Project, The Company Theater and Son of Semele Ensemble. In Minneapolis his credits include Theatre de la Jeune Lune, Walker Art Center, Southern Theatre. In the U.K.- Battersea Arts Center snd The Edinburgh Festval.  His awards include Drama-Logue and The LA Weekly, the Academy Award winning SESSION MAN, Sundance award winner; SUTURE. THE HEAD HUNTER’S SISTER, I LOVE YOU DON’T TOUGH ME, ALL OVER THE GUY, BAR GIRLS, AMY’S ORGAMS, and SONIC IMPACT. Awards also include Best Actor Taormina Film Festival for HORSEPLAYER directed by Kurt Voss. Best Actor S.F. World Film Festival for THE TECHNICAL WRITER directed by Scott Saunders. Best Feature New Haven Film Festival for THE TECHNICAL WRITER written/produced by Michael Harris.

PETER J HARRIS, founder and Artistic Director of Inspiration House, is an African American cultural worker who has, since the 1970s published his poetry, essays, and fiction in a wide range of national publications; worked as a publisher, journalist, editor and broadcaster; and been an educator, and workshop leader for adults and adolescents. Harris is also founding director of The Black Man of Happiness Project, a creative, intellectual and artistic exploration of Black men and joy. In 2011, He was a Contributor-Collaborator with his daughter Adenike Harris on her Creative Thesis: RESTORATIVE NOTIONS: REGAINING MY VOICE, REGAINING MY FATHER: A Creative Womanist Approach to Healing from Sexual Abuse, Georgia State University.  

JON HESS is an awarding filmmaker, a writer and a teacher. He has directed a dozen films as including: WATCHERS for Universal Pictures from the novel by Dean R. Koontz and EXCESSIVE FORCE for New Line Cinema featuring James Earl Jones. Jon also developed and co-produced the controversial AMERICAN HISTORY X for which Edward Norton was nominated for an Academy Award. Jon graduated from NYU Tisch School of the Arts and received his MFA from the American Film Institute.  More recently Jon graduated with an MFA from Antioch University with a dual major in creative non-fiction and fiction.  Presently, he is currently writing a feature film called DEAD MEN FLOAT and editing a collection of short stories called FATHERLESS IN MANHATTAN.

ALLEE WILLIS is a GRAMMY(R), Emmy, Tony and Webbie award-winning/nominated songwriter, performer, artist, multimediaist, director, collector, party thrower. Her songs have sold more than 50,000,000 records, including SEPTEMBER, BOOGIE WONDERLAND, NEUTRON DANCE, WHAT HAVE I DONE TO DESERVE THIS, the theme to FRIENDS and the Broadway Musical THE COLOR PURPLE. Willis recently started performing live to standing room only sold out audiences in LA. Her art includes paintings, motorized sculpture, videos, ceramics, furniture, web design and sets. Willis designed the first social network in 1992 and has addressed Congress on artists’ rights in cyberspace. There will be refreshments available after the event and attendees will have an opportunity to meet the artists and buy books in the Beyond Baroque bookstore which is filled with thousands of rare volumes written by leading local writers.
