The federal judge who oversaw last year’s patent case between Apple and Samsung reduced damages to $599 million from $1.05 billion, saying the jury failed to follow her instructions when they calculated the award owed to Apple over its design and utility patents for the iPhone and iPad. She called for a new damages trial over some Samsung products.
