Dow, S&P 500 Add To Gains; Techs Lag On Soft PC Sales
The Dow and S&P 500 extended gains Thursday but tech stocks lagged. Soft PC sales data and a warning from network security firm Fortinet (FTNT) fueled negative sentiment in the tech sector. The Dow Jones Industrial Average and S&P 500 each rose 0.4%. The Nasdaq added 0.1%. Preliminary data showed NYSE volume coming in slightly lower than Wednesday. Nasdaq volume rose a bit. In the stock market today, data-center operator Equinix (EQIX) rallied 1%
