Stocks Trim Losses But Still Close Lower
The market closed with sharp losses Monday, despite that it erased erasing some of the damage. A 5% drop in the Shanghai Composite overnight rattled Wall Street. Worries about tightening credit conditions compounded fears about reduced stimulus in the U.S. The S&P 500 lost 1.2%, the Nasdaq 1.1% and the Dow Jones industrial average 0.9%.
