Stocks Moderately Higher Late; NetEase Hits New High
Stocks remained modestly higher late Friday after a sharp drop in new-home sales tempered sentiment the Federal Reserve will soon reduce stimulus. The Nasdaq climbed 0.3%, after software giant Microsoft (MSFT) jumped nearly 7% on news that CEO Steve Ballmer plans to retire within 12 months. The S&P 500 edged up 0.2%, barely regaining its 50-day line, while the Dow Jones industrial average edged up 0.1%. Volume was tracking mixed in the stock
