The publisher of a major online newspaper is currently undergoing therapy and treatment for a benign brain tumor, WorldNetDaily has learned.

Doug Thompson, publisher of Capitol Hill Blue was recently diagnosed with the tumor, but a spokesman from CHB said the publisher confirmed that he is doing well.

"He tires easily," said CHB editor Jack Sharp, "but his doctor is confident of a full recovery."

Sharp told WorldNetDaily that physicians have decided to treat the tumor medically rather than surgically.

"I expect him to be back up to full speed by late September or early October," Sharp said.

Among his publishing duties, Thompson writes a daily editorial column called The Rant. Sharp said CHB is currently running previously published work until Thompson comes back to work.

CHB recently underwent major upgrades to its site hosting and Internet news delivery services, offering real-time news headlines from iSyndicate, as well as Reuters and the Associated Press.

"When I first heard about this, I was devastated," said Jon Dougherty, a columnist and contributing editor for WorldNetDaily. "Doug's done so much for the Internet news community in general and me personally, I just hated to hear this. But I'm delighted that he's recovering, that it's not as serious as I had first heard, and most of all, that he'll be back."

"I'm praying for him," he added.

"We wish Doug and all his loved ones the best," said WorldNetDaily Editor Joseph Farah. "He is a pioneer in Internet journalism and we all look forward to the day he's back on the job."
