It wasn't Roswell, N.M., but rather Roswell Avenue in Chino, Calif., for the latest mystery from the sky.

Dozens of residents reported something on fire in the atmosphere, crashing toward Earth Tuesday night. Moments later, a shed was reported on fire at the time the object was supposed to have hit the ground.

"Somebody told one of the fire officials that they saw a plane crash," Capt. Kim Johnson of the Chino Fire Department told the Inland Valley Daily Bulletin. "There are a lot of people who are convinced that something came out of the sky – that there was something unexplainable, a light falling from the sky."

The San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department received numerous calls, and a helicopter was sent to the area to check for any plane crash. None was found, and all planes were reportedly accounted for at Ontario International Airport.

"Somebody called in saying they saw something on the 210 [freeway] that thought they saw fire [in the sky]," sheriff's spokeswoman Debra Holman told the paper. "At first we thought it was a transformer but it's still undetermined."

Meanwhile, fire officials have not reached any conclusion as to what caused the shed to ignite.

"There may be a simple explanation," Johnson said. "But who knows?"
