John Kerry: Unbridled elitist

Many believe that Sen. John Kerry's Halloween eve statement calling our military personnel ignorant, uneducated failures who have no opportunity for anything other than – gasp – can you believe it – service to their country, is further evidence of the Democrat Party's contemptuous loathing of our military men and women.

I believe Kerry's so-called "botched joke" is a deviant pathology of sensus plenior that is emblematic of elitists – particularly those who hold public office – regardless of their party affiliation. This is why liberal Democrats cannot be trusted, and it is why the conservative base is disgusted with pretend-to-be conservative Republicans.

I believe Kerry laid bare the true feelings of both himself and his party, just as he did in the past when he branded Vietnam veterans "war criminals." His latest yellow commentary is consistent with his past comments painting America's finest as little more than marauding barbarians who raped and tortured the people of Vietnam and pillaged their villages in the likeness of Genghis Khan.

(Column continues below)

If Kerry were a man, he would admit what he said was exactly what he meant, and that the comments were his true, elitist feelings. And if elitist liberals were honest they would admit that they are in complete agreement with him. At that point, the cycle of their contempt for our military could be addressed reasonably. But such cannot be done because they are the elite – which means that all but mirror images of themselves are uninformed and beneath them.

I cannot tell you exactly why liberal elites hate the military – perhaps it is because the military represents, in its purest form, order, loyalty and respect for authority, not the abandonment of same. I can tell you, however, that Kerry, et al., could not be more wrong pursuant to his/their assessment that our military is comprised of poor, uneducated white trash and ghetto blacks – a contention unfounded on any level.

Tim Kane of the Heritage Foundation deftly destroys the fallacy of said elitist mindset with unimpeachable facts in his Center for Data Analysis Report # 06-09, "Who Are the Recruits? The Demographic Characteristics of the U.S. Military Enlistment, 2003-2005," (Oct. 27, 2006).

But as is the case with liars and elitists, they never let facts stand in the way of their envisioned superiority. "How then," to borrow a question from the movie "American President," "do you have patience for people who claim they love America, but who clearly can't stand Americans?"

The answer, of course, is you don't. Kerry and his ilk believe themselves to be superior predicated on a basic paradigm of superiority cemented in raw, unbridled, elitism, i.e. we're better than you are, ergo you are less than we and deserving of our contempt. Also, it is an anathema to elite liberals that anyone, given an alternative, would willingly choose to serve their country in what they consider such a base field of endeavor.

Kerry and his kind did turns in the military because they had to. He and his miserable kind, like John Murtha, D-Pa., are not patriots. They are military frauds who found a way to cheat service to America vis-?-vis paper cuts and mosquito bites. I find it nauseatingly interesting that two "we can't wait to tell you we're military heroes" – who supposedly served with distinction – would be the two who had nothing good to say about our military.

Kerry and his kind are fortunate to live in a country where they can undermine the success of military operations without being imprisoned – a privilege for which they should thank a veteran.

I suggest the next time Kerry decides to pass out unsolicited pearls of wisdom – it might be more appreciated by the student body if he shared his secret for cashing in by marrying rich heiresses and widows. If that could be considered service to his country, he would be a general. It cannot be denied – he does have a knack for cashing in on the fruits of another's labor – be they alive or deceased.
