WND learned yesterday evening from Monica Ramos, the wife of imprisoned Border Patrol Agent Ignacio Ramos, the request of her husband and agent Jose Alonso Compean to be released on bond pending appeal has been denied.

Monica Ramos was clearly upset.

"We had been so hopeful that Nacho would be home soon," she told WND.

Mrs. Ramos expressed hope the appeal of the court decision would be successful, or a new trial might yet be ordered.

In the telephone conference with WND, Mrs. Ramos affirmed the prosecution had not given the defense counsel the April 12, 2005, memo written by Department of Home Security Special Agent Christopher Sanchez.

"The first time we saw that document was when you published it," she told WND. "We were shocked to see that the DHS investigator had concluded that seven other agents and two supervisors in the field the day of the shooting all knew about the shooting. My husband wasn't trying to hide anything. Like the DHS memo said, he assumed everybody there that day knew. All the agents and the supervisors were talking about the shooting, the drug smuggler who got away and the load of marijuana they caught."

Mrs. Ramos fought back her emotions on the disappointing news, assuring WND, "I have three small children to raise, now without a husband. I have to be brave and trust in God that my husband will be home soon and that my husband will be safe and protected away from us."
