HEAT OF THE MOMENT Sheryl Crow wants bathroom police to save planet Singer calls for limit of 1 sheet of toilet paper per visit Posted: April 23, 2007 11:09 am Eastern © 2009 WorldNetDaily.com
Singer Sheryl Crow, fresh from a confrontation with Karl Rove at the White House Press Correspondents Dinner, has some unique ideas about saving the planet from "global warming." In a blog chronicling her thoughts during a college tour with Laurie David, producer of Al Gore's "An Inconvenient Truth," she suggests "a limitation be put on how many squares of toilet paper can be used in any one sitting." "Now, I don't want to rob any law-abiding American of his or her God-given rights, but I think we are an industrious enough people that we can make it work with only one square per restroom visit, except, of course, on those pesky occasions where 2 to 3 could be required," she writes. (Story continues below) She is also touting a new invention, admittedly in the early stages of development, to help reduce the use of paper napkins, "which happen to be made from virgin wood and represent the height of wastefulness." "I have designed a clothing line that has what's called a 'dining sleeve,'" she writes. "The sleeve is detachable and can be replaced with another 'dining sleeve,' after usage. The design will offer the 'diner' the convenience of wiping his mouth on his sleeve rather than throwing out yet another barely used paper product. I think this idea could also translate quite well to those suffering with an annoying head cold." Crow and David rode a biodiesel bus on a 12-campus tour to raise awareness about "global warming" by engaging students on the topic. It started earlier this month at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, and was timed to end yesterday – Earth Day. The two women planned to meet today with House Energy Chairman John Dingell, D-Mich., and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev. Crow and David made news Saturday night by engaging in an argument with White House political director Rove. They urged him to take "a fresh look" at "global warming." "I honestly thought that I was going to change his mind, like, right there and then," David told the Associated Press. Both celebrities were guests of news organizations – Crow invited by Bloomberg News and David by CNN. At one point, according to the celebrities, Crow touched Rove's arm and "Karl swung around and spat, 'Don't touch me.' " "You can't speak to us like that, you work for us," Crow claims to have responded. "I don't work for you, I work for the American people,' said Rove. "We are the American people," said Crow." "“She came over to insult me," Rove said Saturday night, "and she succeeded." If you'd like to sound off on this issue, please take part in the WorldNetDaily poll.
