Democrats succumb to MoveOn jackals

The backlash over MoveOn.org's vile advertisement this week attacking Gen. David Petraeus has the jackals of the left sniffing around for a way out.

The brainiacs at MoveOn.org probably giggled like school boys with forbidden magazines when they paid the reduced price for the New York Times' advertisement that had bold letters under a picture of Petraeus spelling out, "General Petraeus or General Betray Us?"

It should be no surprise that the Times published the anti-American ad. Executive Editor Bill Keller has allowed reporters to publish national security secrets repeatedly in his rag when we are engaged in a hot war.

You see, here in America, we may act like we're not paying attention – but needlessly attack a military hero who is trying to protect us from radical Muslim jihadists and you are gonna learn how to spell the word B-A-C-K-L-A-S-H.

There is no corner in Satan's den hot enough for either Keller or the fools at MoveOn.org.

(Column continues below)

Conservatives were the first to show their disgust with the advertisement. And they gave their "friends" on the other side of the aisle the chance to speak out, too. But, at first, there were no takers.

Monday, a letter circulated to Sen. Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., asking him to condemn the ad.

The letter said, in part, "The ad is distasteful and frankly, below the level of respect that America's commanding general in Iraq has earned. No matter whether any senator supports or opposes the war in Iraq, we should all voice recognition and appreciation of Gen. Petraeus' long and distinguished record of service to our country."

Harry apparently is slow to the punch and had yet to receive his marching orders from the MoveOn.org puppet masters.

So he balked.

"Democratic leaders must make a choice today: Either embrace the character assassination tactics MoveOn.org has leveled against the four-star general leading our troops in the fight against al-Qaida, or denounce it as disgraceful," House Minority Leader John Boehner, R-Ohio, said.

Harry squirmed a bit, but MoveOn.org – which claims to "own the Democrats" – didn't give him the OK to talk nasty about the ad. It was more important to demean a war hero.

Part of the Democrats' problem with this fiasco is that the party has aligned itself with the leftist losers instead of the Reagan Democrats. The Democrat candidates for president run like hungry puppies whenever radical groups like DailyKos come calling. Democrat leaders have lost their way, and they look to sick, unpatriotic people to mold their positions on war and speak for them.

Politico.com reported that Democrats can't speak for themselves (that might look unpatriotic, eh?), so they'll allow others to do the dirty work.

And, of course, MoveOn, the George Soros-funded extremist group, claimed in a Dec. 9, 2004, e-mail that, "In the last year, grass-roots contributors like us gave more than $300 million to the Kerry campaign and the DNC, and proved that the party doesn't need corporate cash to be competitive. Now it's our party: We bought it, we own it, and we're going to take it back."

The ownership thing is a problem for the once great Democratic Party. Extremist, white-flag-waving, socialist thugs have overrun the party. They speak for it and they own it.

This doesn't sit too well with the grown-ups in the party – what remains of them, anyway.

I perused the lefty blogs and found some dissension in the ranks, such as one from talkleft.com that shows the peeps in the peanut gallery aren't too happy about MoveOn's betrayal.

Even Sen. John Kerry turned his back on MoveOn's advertisement, but that's probably because he doesn't plan to run for president and doesn't need their cash.

The Democrats' quagmire will not die because a couple of stragglers condemn the unfair attack on Petraeus. The men and women fighting in Iraq salute that man – who has proven himself to the point of unanimous approval by the Senate. MoveOn's ad just continued the left's blatant hate for our military and its mission.

Conservatives and patriots from all parties demand an apology, and we will watch to see which senators and members of the House vote to condemn the advertisement. Unless the Democrats act now to take back their party from the circling hyenas of the left, the party is doomed. Satan is waiting for freedom's enemies, so beware Mr. Keller and MoveOn's traitors.

Meanwhile, patriotic Americans in Columbus, Ohio, turned out Wednesday night by the thousands to support our troops. Fox28 News in Columbus reported some 7,000 people (almost all bikers), full of pride for this country and our troops, rallied together.

If 7,000 in Columbus can find their way to support our young men and women, surely the folks in the Washington, D.C., area will join us for the Gathering of Eagles event to push back against the Pepto-Bismol Code Pinko crowd planning to stage a "die-in" replete with pictures and names of slain soldiers from Iraq.

This huge event is coming up tomorrow. Please come. Your voice needs to be heard. Our voice WILL be heard by our troops and their family members, and even the terrorists overseas.

Hate e-mail from the defeat-retreat-surrender crowd may be addressed to me personally at WorldNetDaily.com or my personal website, MelanieMorgan.com, OR you can sign the petition to support Gen. David Petraeus and our soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan at www.moveamericaforward.com.

I can't guarantee I'll read all the death threats and foul language e-mail from the "peace crowd." I'm too busy co-emceeing the patriotic Gathering of Eagles rally in Washington, D.C., which will be broadcast on C-Span this Saturday.

I hope to see you folks there.
